My Tuco and Angel Eyes sculpts from Hero Heads arrived today!

    For those who were interested.

These pics are of the unpainted heads straight out of the package from Lonnie. See... I post photos for all my 1:6 compatriots to enjoy before thinking of myself... that's how I roll

The photos don't even come near to doing justice to these amazing sculpts. The detail is simply astonishing (there is 5 o'clock shadow sculpted into the faces...extremely subtle but will come alive with painting). The hat for Angel Eyes is also cast in resin and fits perfectly on the head. I'll be getting the Blondie head soon!

As I begin painting them up I will be listening to this:

    ADDENDUM:
Hehe...couldn't just let em sit there...

Here they are with a base coat of wash and pastel

    And a little further along

    They're good.

Tuco looks like the guy from the 1979 King Kong would if he stepped in a turd!

You know, Hero Heads were good when manufacturers weren't doing better, but, when you compare these with stuff by HT and the Korean guys that Zuno shows us, they are left wanting.

    Just my thoughts

I have to semi-disagree with that statement Rogerbee. Whereas some sculpts made by manufacturers have taken the gold medal for likenesses (Harrison Ford and Jack Sparrow for example) I personally think Lonnie's Lee Van Cleef sculpt is still the best one out there. His Kurt Russel heads are also far ahead of the second best contender (HT PMC) and his Clint Eastwood sculpts are on par with the one done by Zuno. Maybe I'm just a Hero Heads fanboy but for my money I'll go with them before others.

I do agree that if the trend continues in quality of likenesses, someday down the road they will be eclipsed by other manufacturers and artists...but I don't believe that day is today.

Each to their own on that one. I've seen stuff come out recently that really has stopped me from looking back on past stuff through rose tinted glasses.

When Lonnie started, HT had yet to hit their stride and all that left was DML, there weren't that many celeb sculpts out there and they were better than what was out there at the time. The Korean version of Lee Van Cleef is amazing and he has a Tuco on the way too, that will be special.
