****** New Feature: Thread Prefixes ******

In the interest of streamlining this big pile of threads we have all in one area, we're changing the nature of the post archives (which are admittedly sorely outdated).

To address this, we've added "thread prefixing", meaning that one can choose from a pre-defined list of prefixes when creating a thread.

Not only will the prefix appear at the beginning of a thread title, but threads can also be filtered/sorted by the prefixes.

Let's say we have these prefixes:
- modern
- ww2
- fantasy
- etc...

Once we accumulate enough threads with a prefix, one could filter the thread view to show only threads with one particular prefix (ie. only WW2)

This transfers the weight of the archiving task away from the few staff and spreads it out to the thread owners, making archiving/prefixing much easier.

This will work nicely for threads moving forward, but old threads will not have a prefix. In this case, members have access to prefix their own threads, new or old. Otherwise, a search will have to do. We've made our best attempt at creating a succinct list of prefixes so we're not overwhelmed with the array of choices when starting a thread.

This will replace the outdated archive, and as such, the threads in the archive will be merged into the general discussion forum.

For the time being, the option to view threads by prefix will be at the bottom of the forum home. As more threads are prefixed, we'll add or move it to the top for better access and ease of use.

Two quick questions about this feature:

- How do you add a prefix to an older thread? I don't see an option to edit the thread title (although the "double-click the title in the forum view" vBulletin trick seems to work for a thread I started) or to add a prefix.

- I see some prefixes that aren't in the pulldown ("Femme Fatale" being one of them). How does that work?

Thanks!

You should be able to add a prefix to an older thread via the Thread Tools menu at the top of the first post.
Thread Tools > Edit thread... then you should be able to see the options from there.

Femme Fatale is the Female Figures selection in the menu.

Hope that helps!

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
