One Sixth Warrior Policies (OSW Code of Conduct):

The OSW was created to provide a friendly, collaborative place for people to contribute their work and knowledge of the sixth scale action figure hobby. Our membership has grown rapidly, and we hope it's because people feel comfortable here.

The One Sixth Warrior forum is the central hub of this website. It's also the truly interactive part of it. Here you'll find a well established community of thousands of highly enthusiastic 1:6th scale hobbyists (collectors, kitbashers, customizers, retailers, etc.). There's actually lots to do here: ask questions regarding the hobby, share your thoughts, or just read the threads. If you're new to this forum, we strongly encourage you to read these general guidelines regarding the best way to interact with the OSW community.

Every member agrees to a user code of conduct when posting on with the OSW. We'd like to emphasize some of those points here to better clarify our expectations of board behavior. The VAST MAJORITY of our members are polite and helpful, and are already abiding by these rules.

OSW Community Values

OSW Community Values:

The OSW Forum is a community where we encourage open and honest communication between all of our members. We believe in the following five basic values.
  • We believe people are basically good.
  • We believe everyone has something to contribute.
  • We believe that an honest, open environment can bring out the best in people.
  • We recognize and respect everyone as a unique individual.
  • We encourage you to treat others the way that you want to be treated.

The OSW is committed to these values. And we believe that our community members should also honor these values -- whether chatting, buying, or selling. We hope these community values will help you better understand the OSW community.

OSW Policy (Short Version)

OSW Policy (Short Version):
  • Stay on topic. If it's about the thread starter topic, everyone is happy. And please remember that this is a discussion area for 1:6th Scale action figures. If it's not related to that, it's probably off topic.
  • Be nice. Flames, insults and put-downs will be deleted.
  • Please limit replies to 5,000 characters (about a thousand words). If you submit a reply that is over the limit, you'll be kindly asked to make it shorter.
  • OSW hosts retain the right to delete ANY post for ANY reason

OSW Policy (Full Version)

OSW Policy (Full Version):

One goal of the 1/6 Warrior Forum is to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere to share news and ideas about the 1/6 hobby. In order to help ensure that this is true for everyone, we have a few policies and guidelines we'd like all our participants to keep in mind:
  1. The Golden Rule
It's well known but bears repeating. Act as you'd wish others would act. A little mutual respect goes a long way. BAITING, TROLLING, and FLAMING are not considered mutual respect, and never have been. Repeat violators will be banned.
    .
  2. Remember our focus is 1/6 Figures
The 1/6 Warrior Forum is dedicated to the discussion of 1/6 action figures and related items. Try to keep discussion at least somewhat related to the main focus of the board.
    .
  3. Respect other members and their opinions
This is a large community with a generally great, but occasionally volatile mix of personalities and opinions, and disagreements will occur. When done properly, disagreements can lead to new ways of looking at things. When done wrong it can become a fight. Sometimes it takes two people to have a fight but it only takes one person to do an attack. If you have a different opinion on a subject you can post it, please just make it informative and factual. Disagree all you want but stay civil. If you must disagree with someone try to do so politely and calmly. "You're incorrect because..." is much preferred over "You're a total jerk if you think that...". Personal attacks on other board members will be dealt with quite seriously and swiftly by the forum hosts.
    .
  4. Prejudice and hate
The members of the 1/6 Warrior Forum represent a diverse worldwide community of action figure enthusiasts. Derogatory or offensive material based on Race, Gender, Religion, Sexual Orientation or Nationality does not belong here. Posts of this nature will be met with very little tolerance.
    .
  5. Political Ideology
We all have our own opinions and theories on the best way to run the world. Please refrain from discussing that here as such discussions tend to get very heated and far off topic very quickly. More info here.
    .
  6. Inappropriate language
Regarding the language used on this forum, common courtesy and respect for others should prevail. Foul language is unnecessary and unacceptable. Regarding the language used on this forum: If you wouldn't say it to your grandmother, mother, clergyman, or a kindergarten class, then it doesn't need to be said here. This guideline also applies to acronyms and abbreviations which would contain the same questionable content were they written out completely. Language edits are at the discretion of OSW staff. Comments that are overtly and inflammatorily racist, sexist, religious, political, criminal, or otherwise bigoted or hostile in nature are not welcome and are subject to editing. Members who persist in posting such will be warned and possibly banned.
    .
  7. Fraudulent Posts
Members are expected to not engage in deceitful behavior in their postings on the board. Examples of this include: Signing up for more than one account and using the bogus account to pick fights on the board for entertainment, knowingly posting false "news" items as a prank, etc. This type of behavior will be discouraged. If you're going to skirt this rule in the cause of "humor", you'd best be very sure it's generally perceived as funny.
    .
  8. Staff Authority
The OSW staff reserve the right to make decisions deemed in the best interest of the website and it's community. If there are questions or concerns about actions taken, they may be addressed through PM not on the open forum. Questioning Staff action in a post, rather than PM, could itself be considered grounds for termination of membership. All administrative decisions are final.
    .
  9. Trading or sales amongst members
These is a designated area for private individuals to post sale and trade notices. Please be aware that any deals arranged through here are the sole responsibility of the parties involved. Be responsible in your trade dealings with other members, and honor agreements that you enter into. Nothing will earn you a bad reputation on this board quicker than not being a good and fair trader.

In order to post in the Trade section, you must be an established member of the OSW (more info here). We are doing this to weed out potential fly-by-night sellers/traders and to encourage people who want to do business here to establish a presence on the boards. Any commerce or invitation for commerce should be contained within the Trade section. Posts that contain invitations to bid, sales promotions, offer of services, or feelers outside of these locations will be edited or deleted. A link to your trade thread in your sig line, as long as it meets the current restrictions, is fine.

Threads to determine the value of an object are fine as long as they do not turn into sales threads. If you want to sell an item later, please start a separate thread in the Trade section.
    .
  10. Extremely one sided product support
We at the OSW do not endorse any one brand of action figure. We respect the fact that some of our members are pro-brand "X" but we do not support the trashing of brand "Y". Please refrain from showing you like or dislike of a particular brand in a immature manner.
    .
  11. Commercial Posts
Persons involved in the commercial side of the hobby are welcome to post information about their business, sale ads, etc. We simply ask that you place such messages in the designated Dealer Announcements section, not in the General Discussion area or elsewhere on the board.
    .
  12. Signature Sizes
    Please see this thread.
    .
  13. Enjoy Yourself
Have a good time during your visits here!
    .
In general please try to keep in mind that the 1/6 Warrior Forum is a privately run board, much like a private club. No one has a "right" to be here or to behave in a way which is disruptive to the board.

The board hosts are here to keep an eye on things and ensure that the board runs smoothly for the good of all. We are not here all the time, and certainly not omniscient, a lot of things go on here that we may miss, if you see something that is severely out of line, and no forum host action appears to be occurring, please feel free to contact one of the hosts via private message.

Except in the most grievous circumstances, the board hosts will genuinely try to counsel members who are having trouble maintaining proper conduct on the board. Please take such efforts very seriously, as the only other recourse we have in dealing with repeatedly unacceptable behavior is to ban that individual from participating on the board, and we deeply regret the rare instances where this is required.

Our goal is to keep this site as work-friendly and as people-friendly as possible. Your help in the accomplishment of this goal is much appreciated.
