"Real" Scale TV's.

Has anyone ever thought about using a small (2-5 inch) TfT LCD monitor to be the base of a "TV".

They sell them as "spy cam receivers" , for 80 or so dollars. Building one would be cheaper.

As of now, I'm researching the best places/ways to put this together , and , I'll update it as I gather info.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Funny enough , I've had this idea in my head for a while...

Not sure why , but , when I first played "resident evil outbreak" I decided I had to make the bar in the first level. And what is a bar without some TV's. Then I realized that a "TV" would be really useful for other situations too..

Now to find the parts , with out spending 80 bucks on the "spy cam" crap.

That would be sweet to have a damaged but still operational TV that would fade from static to fuzzy-pictured fake news reports about zombie attacks, then back to static.

what about using those $20 Photo keychains as screens? i see them all the time at the convenience store on the corner...

Thats what I have in mind..just can't find one small enough , or one cheap enough.

Maybe a dollar store, if I can find one around here?

if you can make it so it can be removed from the Dio, how about a video IPOD? Then you could put whatever you wanted on the screen, from static to news reports.

How about an old VHS video cam viewfinder? I know it's a stretch but if you got on in a closet that doesn't work you might be able to make use of it?

I've been pondering that idea , seeing as theres a bunch of broken ones with the LCD's still intact. My only question was how I would put video on them. I could splice the wires into some cable , maybe a DVI or something. I'll have to see...

PS: Above they are proberly a bit big for what you NoMercyJoe the original thread starter is looking for . This being as older style TV sets are quite small , however in modern times many people view on TV sets which are much larger . So the above link could pass for 1/6 scale .

I got this at Toys R Us for $9.99. Loaded bunch of "military" pictures on it and it scrolls like a slideshow.

You could always grab screen caps of shows and not "slideshow" it.

That's a really good idea, brilliant in fact.

I have been interested in adding a TV to my diorama and I have a couple of old mobile phones with colour screens sitting around.

I will have to give it a go.
