Here is my latest obsession in the -/large scale diorama prop/- category. A BFI trash dumpster. Once again cardboard construction through out. Thanks for looking!

Thats crazy RA!!!! How did ya make that outta cardboard!? Looks like real metal!!!
Second place is first loser!
As part of my weekly duties was forklifting one of those (a slightly bigger brother) back into place, I have to say you've nailed that dumpster, right down to the inner wall spillage stains, LOL. Outstanding work.

I get the metal look by layering multiple coats of sprayed / drybrushed paint. First rust primer, then green, then dullcoat, then chocolate brown, then red brown, finally dark green.
Oh, i forgot it's not all cardboard; the thin strips are balsa.
That is very impressive.....you have been busy lately.....and doing a great job as usual. Keep up the posts, I love 'em!
Here's the one I built a couple years ago:

It's frightening to know there's at least three guys here who do dumpsters and CONEXs. One can only surmise there are whole onesix cities out there somewhere...

Sorry Rainbow, wasn't trying to steal your thunder. I love to see what Props have been made. It reminds of the time my wife and I went and measured a real dumpster in order to scale it down. We got some very strange looks! I made two of these dumpsters. One for Deering and one for Tod Pleasant to use in the AESOP stories. I love the paint job you did on yours!

No problem Dan DB, i'm glad you posted the pix. I thought i'd seen someone else make a 1-6 dumpster before, now i know it was you. Yours looks great and the diorama scenes you put it in are fantastic.
