Shoots nicely. I have some room. East Texas has a lot of trees. I can get access to an old runway via a co-worker. Google earth showed it to be about 1657 yards long. About 50 or so yards short of a mile.
Actually, with 230gr Berger Hybrid VLD bullets, I am getting similar trajectories and range of that of a .338 Lapua with 250gr SMK bullets.
I could have went smaller with a .260 Remington or 6mm or 6.5mm Creedmore and still get similar range and better trajectory and have a lot better barrel life...but I've always wanted a .300 WM
I assume you meant 7.62x39...which has nothing on the .300 WM.
I have a 300 win mag and it has some kick but then it does not have a comp/brake on it like the MK13 mod 5. The last time I was at the range I shot a friends Savage 100 BA in 338 Lapua and it has about half the kick of my 300 win mag, but then it has a nice brake on the barrel that negates alot of abuse to the shoulder even though it is a larger and more powerful round.
I stand corrected. From the pic and my old eyes it appeared that yours had a brake or comp. I now see it looks kind of like a birdcage on the M16 family. If this is correct and it is similar to an A2 birdcage then it is somewhat compensating the kick as the A2 birdcage was designed for recoil management, flash reduction less dust kick up by venting the gas upwards and therefore the barrel down. But then I can not see if there is a slot on the bottom from the pic.
Either way sweet rifle.
It's a lot bigger than an A2 birdcage (length and width). It's not a compensating flash hider, even those that are compensating, don't compensate for much.
Thanks for sharing pics of your MK13 Ermeynator! It looks fantastic! Did you build it out or purchase it already put together? I have been toying with trying to build one since I see Midway USA has the AICS stocks available.
