Anyone wanting a VERY GOOD soldier's-eye-view of day to day ops in Iraq..

I've seen Iraq blogs by the boatload start popping up over the last few months, but the authors' writings range is anywhere from unreadable to profoundly well written. This particular blog definately falls into the latter category.

Mike Yon is a respected author and photo journalist. He is also a former member of the US Army Special Forces; attaining his green beret at the age of 19. For the past year, Mr. Yon has been living on the ground with the US Army in Iraq, reporting back to the US about his experiences on the ground there.

If you would like to read more about Mike Yon, or even if you are only interested in a GREAT military story, I STRONGLY recommend picking up his book, "Danger Close." I have recommended this book to many friends, and I have yet to hear anything negative about it. You can find the book and many reviews on it on Amazon:

Yes, he does post pics. In fact, if you scroll down on the first page of his blog, you will see 5-10 pics there. 95% of the pics he posts are taken by him.

I highly recommend his book too.

    Wow. Just wow.

I hope he gets back safe and puts out another book collecting his dispatches and photos.
That would be one for the collection, to keep forever.

Thanks again for sharing the link to his blogs.

    Any others you can recommend?

I'm definitely going to seek out 'Danger Close'.
