I'm working on turning a plastic figure into something that looks like it's made out of metal, but with some rust in areas. But I've never done anything like that before. Does anyone have any tips or a tutorial on how to make something look somewhat rusty? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I use Tamiya Weathering Master Set C. Also, you can look up drybrushing method for an even better look.

Is there a specific technique to applying that stuff that works best for showing some rust? I've never even attempted something like this before.

Checkout dedguy's tute. Probably one of the best out there I've seen so far. www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/sixth-scale-action-figure-news-reviews-discussion/438692-how-i-apply-rust-tutorial.html

Also, you can look up vids of drybrushing in youtube. It's basically a dry brush dipped straight into paint (with the excess paint wiped off), which you then brush over the edges and corners of stuff that are prone to weathering.

Rustall is another option, produces a different effect than the Tamiya kits.

The Rustall scale model weathering system (http://www.rustall.com)

Whoa that stuff looks cool. That looks like an easier way to go for a newb like me. Thanks for that, DeFather.
