Hi crowd! Why are there so few clothed, well articulated military figures in 6 inches (1/12 scale)? :think

I simply love military action figures, but I've been way too long into Dragon, Dragon in Dreams, and 3R and pretty much cannot find anything else which fulfills me, so I thought moving into 1/12 scale would be nice... until I discovered that there is few if nothing at all.

Sure, sure, there's Plan-B and others, but the feel of plastic is not my thing after enjoying so much the 12 inches figures with their clothing, accessories, details, etc.

There is this 3A company which makes futuristic bots and humans in 6 inches, with some neat clothing, but it is too futuristic for me. I like the old school stuff, you know, WW1, WW2 and little more.

Anybody out there in the same boat? Maybe some heads up.

Greetings to all,
-S-

Definitely interested in anything you're able to find! 12th scale is my first love - mostly girly stuff, not going to lie, but there's always room in my collection for a bit of variation. :)

MCfarlane makes 6" figures (Halo, the Walking Dead) and NECA and Diamond Select make 7" figures from various movies and games. I don't know if that helps but it could be a start in terms of customizing fodder.

Indeed, they do. I actually made the horrible mistake of buying some Walking Dead :doh

But there is really no 1/12 scale military, to be honest. Maybe I am missing something, but I've been lurking, asking, and, well no. 3A has the WWbots but that's to sci-fi for me. I would love to have some DiD military but in 6 inches.

Anyway, I will keep looking and, if nothing, then I think it is time for me to start customizing :wideyes provided I get my hands on a decent skeleton in that scale.

On 1/10 (some say it is 1/11) you have madelman PDJ. Figures are 6.7 inches tall, fully articulated and fabric clothes, but are toys. Some fans are working to get a line of collector figures in this scale. I personalize the figures, the last thing I did was this Roman General. I used an Ammodel MK I body in this work, not madelman.

I hope you like it

Wow, that is awesome! Very well done job.

What fans do you mean? Do they have a webpage? I'd be interested in seeing their products.

You can find interesting madelmania.com (http://www.madelmania.com) Is the on-line shop of a great collector known as Prviron. Here he shells some of his works and he's working on a new figure at 1/10 scale

Maybe you can find interesting some of the spanish forums of action figures such as www.madelmanyfigurasdeaccion.com (http://www.madelmanyfigurasdeaccion.com/)

Also you can read http://toyhaven.blogspot.com.es/2012/02/ever-heard-of-madelman-from-spain-maybe.html where Alex talks about madelman and 7 inches custom figures

Of course feel free of visiting my blog (https://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/jettcustom.blogspot.com) and give me a comment. You'll be welcome.

Thank you Ron. Almost everything is handmade except the lorica armor (Mononofu) and the body (Ammodel)

Sorry for the necro post BUT Tis relevant to the threats original question.

Things are slowly improving with articulated figures at 1/12th scale (6" figures) and also reuse of old favs like LITTLE BIG MAN, LION ROCK, Madelman etc.

A Helicopter Crewman I am doing. Custom body with Lion Rock clothing and cast helmet from the McFarlane Military line. Here with the McFarlane 2 piece Blackhawk dio base. Also stood with MEZCO Frank Castle and Steve Rogers

The current new kid on the Block is MEZCO with their ONE:12 line.

As a Cap fan have all of them, as a Dredd fan have 7 of them LOL Though their shining flagship figure IMHO is Frank Castle aka PUNISHER.
He comes in Black clothing and removable tac Armour. An awesome array of weapons and heads too.

So as said there is a resurgent But at present takes a little creativity too from the individual.

Add also 1/12 Tamiya RC, HM Forces Harrier, Apache, BUDDY L 1/12 Steel Wrangler jeep and MORE are out there as vehicle bases.

I like that scale. Don't own any of the Mezco figures, but they look awesome.

I think a lot of offer and with the way things are Honestly see this as great alt to 1/6th (though Happily doing both).

FYI it is great to see how many 1/6th Action Man/Joes vehicles actually work with 1/12. Plus lets not forget thinking outside the box at other brands, franchises too.

So much fun is to be had.

As has been mentioned above, there are very few 1:12 scale product lines that utilize fabric clothing. Aside from 3A (and a few other similar designer toy lines) and Mezco's new One:12 line, I'm not aware of any.

There are a lot of 1:12 scale lines (Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, DC Multiverse, DC Icons to name a few readily available at retail) that have decent base bodies. You could conceivably use some of the Marvel Legends figures as base bodies and sew clothing over them.

There aren't a lot of 1:12 scale military figures that I can think of off the top of my head aside from the aforementioned McFarlane military line. If you are good at molding/casting you could probably get a lot of good custom parts from that line.

The 3A line is pretty cool, although some things (mostly in sculpt detail and articulation) are lost when reducing a 1:6 scale figure to 1:12 scale. The cool thing is that the base bodies for 3A's 1:12 scale line (called "Action Portable") are basically shrunken down Hot Toys base bodies. I've got a few of the WWR Grunt and Dropcloth figures and they look great. As I indicated, their articulation is limited, mostly due to the density of the fabric. (I've seen a few reviews of Mezco's One:12 line and the articulation looks pretty good even with the fabric clothing)

There was an unsuccessful kickstarter last year for a 6" military toy line called "Army Alphas". The figures looked pretty cool (basically marvel legends style military figures, as well as skeletons), but, unfortunately, it did not reach its funding goal. The creator of the kickstarter said he was going to go back to the drawing board in the hopes of trying the kickstarter again, but I haven't heard much since. This would have been a plastic figure line (no fabric clothing), so I'm not sure it would be what you are looking for if (when?) it is rereleased. Still, it might be a good starting point at least for accessories, weapons, etc.

There is a line of 1:12 weapons (and other things) from Tomytec that may be of interest to some.

TOMYTECH alas are very hit and miss with scale, as they cater moreso to the FIGMA line. FIGMA are a law unto themselves with their own 1/12 scale. Usually a Lot smaller than most brands inc 3A, Vortex etc.

Plus we also have 1/12 SOAP STUDIOS with their very DC orientated line up coming. Plus 3 piece suit Bale Bruce Wayne (Excited on that one) as well as Bale Batman etc.

Now DAMTOYS have announced their entry into 1/12 with the 2 SAS CRW figures. Who knows will DAMTOYS also venture into weapons sets as they do with 1/6th?

Also if DAMTOYS have now come on board 1/12 scale, Which other 1/6th are eyeing up either a transition (savings) or adding 1/12 to their products scales?

Would love to see DML, DiD, Soldier Story and more jump on board. Hell even Hot Toys just to put serious competition to Mezco LOL
