Hi all! I'm making a dio right now and I was wondering what paints are safe when coloring a surface with vinyl spackling. I used DAP's Vinyl Spackling (http://risdpedia.net/images/2/2a/DAP_Vinyl_Spackling.jpg) for the project I'm working on.

Are acrylics and enamels safe? I am new to painting and I would love to hear opinions from experienced enthusiasts. Hope to hear from you soon!:thanks

Acrylics (water base) are safest but may not last long. You can test a small patch and see how it holds up before going further.

Enamel has the possibility of "melting" vinyl surfaces and sometimes "never dry" properly which results in a soft wet surface. But if it adheres and dries, it is pretty tough.

I guess acrylics is the best option for me. But if I sprayed it with dullcote, will that make the paint last? I also forgot to ask, are primers safe too? Coz I'm looking if a Testors Gray Primer (http://www.ehobbies.com/tes28137.html) will be friendly to the surface.
