Im curious do any of you guys use a Tent Softbox to photograph with.

edit: I can now say Im the proud owner of a light tent that I purchased on ebay for a great price. If you want to see some of the stuff Ive done check out my most recent PMC thread. Below is a pic of my new toy.

I honestly haven't yet bothered to get soft lighting. This is the most recent makeshift set-up I've cobbled together out of scavenged lights and board from around the house.

Not as clean as if I had used a true sweep plus soft lighting or a tent; however, this was assembled, literally, from junk I gathered around the house. Three boards, blue tape, and random tabletop lights.

Whoa thats awesome CC nice job, Im thinking about picking up a 30x30 Tent Softbox or doing what you did lol and save me the headache of buying the tent. What kind of paper are you using by the way. I hate to ask so many question but would you reccomend a Tent or a one of these http://www.clouddome.com/specs/infinitiboard.html .

Check my post "a ten-minute guide to making a light tent" (I know, I shoulda have my money back from my English teachers... :D) in the same section.

OTOH, I'm currently working on a "figure photo tutorial", due for next month - it's about 50 pages (by now, expect some 70 pages when finished), covering everything you should know about the issue (modesty? what's that? :D)

Hope it helps

I use shadow box for taking all of my pictures for the site and also for Ebay sales. I've bought one on Ebay for around $20-30 some months ago and for these money I thought it beats keeping bunch of cardboards lying in the room, especially since my wife has a tendency to throw out everything she think is garbage lol. Plus I did not have any free walls that I could use as a base, with tent box, I can open it up on any table in the middle of the room and start shooting pictures within a minute.

My current setup:

and the results obtained with a McFarlane 7" figure

After having tested both systems, I do prefer this setup over the softbox, as I've found it to be a little bit more flexible to configure than the tent.

The whole "set" is worth some 40 bucks (or woulda been, as most of the parts were raided, begged for or plainly stolen :D - the real cost is closer to $20). Almost half the price they ask for an ABS board with two strings (now, sincerely... :sadshake )
