All you paint experts out there, I don't know if this is the place to ask but, can anybody tell me how to thin out Testors acrylics and enamels for weathering purposes besides certain types of paint thinner???? I know this is probably a whacked out  question, but I have no access to thinner right now! Much appreciated and thanx for future info!!!

Testors acrylics can be thinned with water. Start with a 2:1 water to paint ratio for a wash. Try and put it on as thinly and evenly as possible. Let it dry completely before re-applying.

Thanx, and much appreciated for the quick response Sawgunner!!! This is exactly the info I was after. Was it your technique with the powdered graphite? I'm definitely going to try that one too!!! THANX again!!!

You're welcome. Yes, I use the powdered graphite on weapons weathering. It gives that "blue steel" appearance.

Remember when using powdered graphite, to rub, rub, rub to get that mettallic shine.

Where do you find powdered graphite? Is it derrived from pencil lead?

yep - thats the easiest source. Get a pencil - usually a soft one - 2b or similar, and a small sheet of sandpaper. Rub like hell for a while and then reap the rewards of your efforts.

You can thin down acrylics with water and use them as a wash. Depending on what type of weathering you are looking for will dictate the color you use.

Kat Cole - Hey, thanks for the toysmith.com link. Awesome! Just found a few items for a Lone Ranger & Tanto kitbash I've been wanting to do for a while. Know where I could get me a pair of horses? One white (Silver) one brown (Scout)?
Thanks!
