This how to was brought about by several different threads . Primarily PbrStreetgands thread asking about custon Brit sniper rifles and Arch13 request for images .
Secondly , MVSpartans request for some 1/6 gunsmithing tutorials .

This is one I am presently putting together for PBRstreetgang .

It still needs ome paint and a little sanding here and there .

Enfield L42A1.

Oh yeah ... One more thing . I was on AIM with PD this afternoon and he reminded me that our own Writtenman has made one of these quite some time ago . I do remember seeing the photos and marveling at his brilliant work . In short . This is not the first .

That being said . Here is a list of tools you will need:

Hobby Saw

Sandpaper and emory boards of varying grits (Rough to fine )

Plastic / Styrene solvent

Dremmel

Styrene tube .

Below is a picture of the 1/1 rifle

1.

I noticed that the modified 1/1 rifles stock was a bit shorter , so I made marks on it as initial cutting guides .

6. Here , I have joined the front bit to the main stock with ProWeld solvent .
Also shown is the front sight that will be used later.

12. The cheek rest was made out of left over bits of the front stock . I had to dremmel out the contour to fit it to the stock .

13. This is as far as I have gotten .
Unfortunately , it is Valentines day and I am presently trying to feverishly write this post before my girlfriend gets home .
She WILL Kick my ass !

I will go back and write more discriptions in the morning . and hopefully have some initial painting pics too .

You have given me the inspiration to take on the sniper rifle mod a friend used in the Seals. Your work is always awesome and a pleasure to see. Keep up the good work!!

Phenomenal work- I've had one of these in the works for awhile (on hold while I'm at school- a summer and holiday project for when I'm home)- I need to find a hobby drill (is that the same as a pin vice?) to clean up the hole I have for the barrel and to get teh front sight free. Nice idea on the cheek piece- hadn't even thought of using a piece from the front stock.

I'll be interested to see what you work out for the scope and mount- looking around I considered frankensteining together a scope from teh DML Alan springfield and the DML Kar 98 sniper rifle that came with their gebirsjager (sp?) anniversary figure- as for the mount I had no idea how to work that out.

Thanks for undertaking this project- your expertice on weapons mods makes it easier for you, and provides a guide for me to work from.

Cheers,
Allen.

EDIT: Oops- didn't notice, it looks like you have a sight there already in the last photo- any chance for info on its source and the work you've done to it?

Cheers guys ! I really appreciate the comments .

pbrstreetgang ... Glad you like it man . Should be finished by Wed-Thurs. Will email you and let you know the status .

54thCuda2 ... Being that that inspiration and sharing is what this board means to me , the least I can do is reciprocate . Can't wait to see your SEAL weapon . Sounds like a fun project .

PD ... Arrigatto sensei . I just got really psyched . :p

WAF07 ... Thanks ! I would suggest investing in a dremmel . Even a battery powered one (even though the battery op ones only have 2 speeds ).
It should run you about $60 USD . I find it an invaluable tool with many household as well as hobby uses . Mostly drilling , cutting and grinding away plastic . Well worth the investment , besides the fact that you wont be pulling your hair out trying to use a screwdriver to drill hioles in tiny pieces of plastic .

The scope has been the biggest headace so far .
As you mentioned the mounting funiture will need to be "Frankensteined" together somehow .
I've found that the scope that came with DML's "Winiona"'s rifle (seen in pic) might be able to be doctored up .
Not sure how this is going to turn out . Basically a matter of cutting it into 3 parts and re-arranging them a bit .
There should be some pics of the scope in works posted a little later .

Can't wait to see how your mod comes out .. The more the merrier .

great work.

If you don't mind my asking, how'd you go about fabricating the scope mount- I've got enough pieces that I can work out a scope, but the mount was a mystery to me- you seem to have done a great job on this one.

Cheers,
Allen.

Thanks Matt ! Now if I can only paint this thing up a killer as Mountain Troopers "Bob Dole" Rifle . :rolleyes

WAF07 / Allen ... Thank you .
After I had thought I'd had the scope mount beat , PD posted an actual reference photo .
I had to tear the whole thing apart and start over .

Here is a rough illustration of how I went about making the mount .
I hope it is of some help .

Brilliant!

Thanks for the help- my scratch building skills from Styrene are improving, but still a bit lacking, so your "lazy" method looks like it'll work fine.

Cheers,
Allen.

Did you get my last PM ?

Have not figured oout the wood weathering thing as of yet , but been re-reading some of your posts .
Gonna give it a whirl soon .
The Metal parts anre all painted first with Citidel (Warhammer) "Chaos Black" Primer, then drybrushed with Citidel "Boltgun Metal" . Later another bit of drybrushing with "Mithryl Silver" .
