What paints, colors, and techniques should I use to paint weapons? Preferable desert scheme I'm looking for.

Thanks.

I'm not an expert, but I've been experimenting myself and found out TAMIYA COLOR (for plastics) works pretty good I use the light sand color and then I brush lightly some thinner (testors do the job) over the weapon to get some wheatering effect and ... there you go

By the way, it is airspray, basic technic (holding can 25 or 30 cm from work, do not stop in the middle, spray past object being painted, let dry between coats) and I really like the way it works over plastics

I use arylic paints. Try to use a brush with as little paint as possible on it, and do multiple layers. Just tap the end of the brush on the gun lightly. I like acrylics because they rub off slightly over time, giving the gun a worn look.
