Hey everyone, I got a question. I just bought some Sculpey to use for making beards and hair. Problem is that I don't know how to start. I tried to shape a beard earlier but, it didn't turn out too well. So I need to know how to make beards that look real, like some of your figs. Thanks in advance yall.:thumb

Just apply it a little at a time and work with it. Then shape it in to a beard or hair. Place it on the face and start trimming off the extra. Look at a pic of somebody with a beard to get a good start. Good luck it is very easy.

There's a section on how I add a Sculpey beard to a figure in my how-to on painting heads.

I've gotten different results with different products.
So far I've experimented with: Sculpey, Sculpey II, and "Premo" Sculpey. The latter can be hardened in your oven to a hard-vinyl texture, and I have found it to be the best for shaping small objects (like hands). The former is more difficult for me to shape into small objects, because it tends to fall apart, and will harden in your oven to a bisque-porcelain hardness, and become rather brittle.
Which Sculpey are you using?
