I have always used a different method, since printable fabric is *very* expensive and hard to come by in Germany. I print my patches directly onto athletic tape. This works fine if you only want to print a couple of patches, and not a whole sheet. Here's how:

1. Make sure your artwork is scaled properly (make a test-printout onto paper)
2. print it onto an overhead foil (the clear plastic foils you use for OHP presentations).
3. Now that you know where exactly on the page your artwork will be printed, stick a strip of athletic tape onto your design on the foil. Secure edges with simple clear Scotch-tape to prevent frayed edges getting caught in your printer.
4. Print your artwork onto the prepared foil. Now you should have a self-adhesive cloth-patch. The plus is that you don't have to permanently fabri-tac it to your uni.
