Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
Nice figure but I find that most female figures are very skinny reminds me of the runway models or Twiggy

It's Claire Danes!
Those arms are only marginally better than the HT ones, but, there is some shape there.

Too skinny and I hate the head sculpt. Pose very well though.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
Damn, so that’s what ace has been up to. For my needs, this one looks perfect actually. Maybe w/ the exception of the ankles. Most of my female bashes are of the military type. So the skinny body will keep it’s articulation after it’s all geared-up.
Will definitely be checking it out!!

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
Really like the HS, and I like that it is not the same height as the male figure; will have to watch out for when this comes out. The ankle/feet look funny, almost one solid piece, no joint movement. Now we need to see some female sized unis and gear, come on ACE, you just cannot make a female figure without any gear to go along with her.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
Wow, I love it. The body is kind of just OK, but the headsculpt is superb. There just aren't enough good headsculpts out there that have a serious expression and don't look doll-like.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
Eh, looks like the old Dragon body with a few tweaks (similar to the newer SSC female body). The thread title had my hopes up as I love ACE's male body and was hoping for a similar level of goodness and innovation in a female body.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
I think this is mainly for military dress up rather than for bikini so the over slim body is fine. It actually makes the articulation better as Holiday pointed out. The HS looks ok to me. So, does it mean we will see more female military (or other genre) costumes from ACE?

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
Nice to see! ACE comes out of their apparent hiatus with a unveiling of a new body as well as the release anticipated Seal Team 10 v2 figure. (See other thread on this forum.) And, both show improved quality in the HS's over previous releases. I wonder if we'll see some female troopers coming fom them, too.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
As a female figure collector I really don't see anything new or exciting about this figure. It kinda looks like its pieced together from older dragon and Side Show molds. What is most disappointing is the HS, especially from Hiroki Hayashi. He has done some incredible sculpts and is capable of so much more then this.
I guess this just goes to show that there is a market for female figures.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
I kind of like her. The body reminds me of a cross between the Dragon 2.0 and the Obitsu "Normal" females. I wish she were more in the 26- 27 cm range instead of 29 cm. The headsculpt looks like it would work great for a character I've had in mind for a few years now.
Like Clay mentioned, it would be nice to see some realistic, practical outfits rather than more black pleather "battle bikinis" or Japanese school girl outfits. (If was really feeling optimistic, I could hope for a female-sized version of ACE's SPEAR-RBA.)

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
I think ACE made this figure more for military kitbashing than fantasy bashing.
The skinny body will certainly look better with gear on. It'll keep her from looking "fat" and "manly" once she's geared out.
Plus, the face looks likes a soldier's determined expression rather than "sexy" one.

She'd probably look good as a federal agent, a plain-clothes officer, or any kind of present-day fictional kitbash ala action movies.

Re: ace - Aiko (female body)
This is really random for ACE
Even for military bashes the body's torso seems way too thin. Also, imagine adjusting holster straps to fit those legs. I am also curious about how those ankles will be like when it is released. The HS is not too bad in my opinion.
However, ACE has a habit of releasing heads that are sub-par to their preview photos. Except for the SEAL team 10 ACU guy.

Re: New from ACE - Aiko (female body, w/ sculpt by Hayashi)
I don't think the body looks too skinny, but I agree that it is slim.
The proportions seem ok, but as others have stated it isn't anything revolutionary.
I was expecting to go 'wow' when I opened this thread--and even though its a bit short of that, its a good start for ACE, if not an unexpected--but welcome turn of events.
I like the expression on the HS, and the more I look at it, she does grow on you. Maybe its the factory job and/or a thick application of paint on her face or something, but I generally expect better from Hayashi-san.
His work is amazing and well detailed, and since it was mentioned above, he did make several of the CyGirl heads as well as his own line--so it should follow that this most recent piece be pretty damned good as well IMHO.
One thing I would like addressed though, would be the height.
By shortening the overall height to say 27 cm, her body would seem more in proportion and lose a bit of that runway-model length.
At 29 cm, well, most of our male figures aren't even that tall.
Though the box says 12" or 30cm, thats usually not the case, and although she's slightly shorter than the ACE male body, remember that he is a bit taller than most other male bodies.
All in all, it looks like a good start for ACE though, and I look forward to seeing what they come up with in this line. Military outfits/casual outfits/interesting but feasible anything would be nice, and there aren't many female sized combat boots out there [that I am aware of at this posting].
As a side note, it is really interesting and promising to note that most of your observations seem to prefer a more 'realistically proportioned' female over that of a model's; especially in the industry I'm trying to get into and potentially change around a bit.

With the ACE man's excellent articulation, this means this woman will be, too.

In terms of the body, when dressed it would be quite accurate for Claire Danes, you could do a nice Mod Squad or T3 bash with this.

I was thinking much the same. They have time to make changes if the release date is anything like the SEAL Team 10 V2. Don't mind the sculpt that much. Like the almost POed look on her face. Body really doesn't look too new. Time will tell.
I have faith in ACE.

I think the facial expression is more down to the paint job than it is the sculpting, if you stripped it, I'm sure a Hayashi sculpt would emerge.

Nice paint job on the head. But think I really have enough with runway or undie models. When will somebody make female figure with a body frame like a Olympic swimmer or gymnasts?
