Arrow Review: Ashley Wood's Saint of Vengeance Les Mort 13

Okay so this is my first ever review so bare with me.

Today I am reviewing one of the latest figures from Ashley Wood made by HOW2WORK toys.

The character itself is from one of Ashley's books called D'Airain Adventure, which has been released by IDW Publishing over here. He is a true 1/6th scale figure that goes great with his previous releases like the Bertie's, of which you can find a review done by onesixthwarrior member "dedguy" over here.
.

PACKAGING:

The packaging is the standard window box that has been used to great effect by the other 3 big 1/6th scale manufacturers, Hot Toys, Medicom and Sideshow, and features some nice artwork from the comic counterpart of Les Mort 13.

some art inside the box itself and a head shot on the outside of the box.

PAINT APPLICATION:

There is not much paint application to speak of on this figure, the only thing that is painted is his head and it is done in a great way to reflect on the comic art making it look like a true character.
No slop or anything to speak of but these are not mass market figures as they are all hand made in limited quantities.

ARTICULATION:

This figure is made in corporation with Medicom and features a RAH 301 body so expect the top of the line articulation Medicom delivers where you are able to pull of some real nice poses.

It has great motion in hands, feet and his head and he is no way restricted by his outfit. You are able to pull his arms nice and close to his body with or without his coat.

SCULPTING:

Sculpting is also top of the line with a great looking skull head and distinctive feet and hands. The hands are made of hard plastic so the guns might go into the hands a bit difficult but I had no real difficulties putting them in and getting them out.

Also included is a bone that has some ties to the comic which is also made from very sturdy plastic and looks great with the figure.

ACCESSORIES:

Accessories include a black coat with red velvet inside and a wire in the base of the coat to make it flow very nicely.

A big black fedora style hat.

A very long red scarf which is unfortunately not wired, it is made from very sift and light material and has a very bright red colour.

3 pairs of black sculpted hands with a wrist peg. These include 2 fists, 2 half-open hands and two gun-pose hands.

Two black guns, also with no moving parts just a solid sculpt.

A black belt made from soft plastic with to gun holsters that can open and close and can hold the two guns in place neatly.

And finally a long white bone.

OVERALL IMPRESSION AND COST:

My overall impression of this figure is very good. I can recommend it to anyone who likes Ashley Woods' style, fans of the D'Airain comic and people like me who are just looking for unique items.

I bought my Les Mort 13 for $130 at www.bambalandstore.com and it is well worth this price. Unfortunately it has been sold out over there so you will have to look for these on the secondary market but they are worth up to the $150/$160 mark in my opinion. Anything above that is too much for this particular figure.

Cool, waiting for mine gets harder every day. Although gotta say it's a bit easier now that I know it is in fact coming.

Damn you still waiting...that's weird I have had mine for a while now.

Oh and btw the posters are not included due to water damage but Ashley told me personally that he is having the posters reprinted and will send them out to everyone that has a Les Mort 13 one way or another.

Mine is in Tampa this morning, so it will probaby be here today. I have a similar signing problem but I often work from home on Mondays and may do so today (to sign for it, as well as other reasons).

I think Les Mort, even with the robots and what not, is still my favorite Ashley Wood figure out thus far. His outfit is amazing.

Yeah I still love my Les Mort even after the news about all the wonderful things to come in '09!

I still need to haul another one to pose sans the coat and hat!

Re: Review: Ashley Wood's Saint of Vengeance Les Mort 13

As this is sorta the defacto Les Mort thread here on OSW I figured I'd dig it up since I took some new pics. Was never particularly happy with the old ones I took. I didn't really have any good place to take pics at the time and one of my lamps had died.

Simply amazing ded. Did you put wires in the tie as well?
Also, where did you get that cross? It looks really good with mort.

Re: Review: Ashley Wood's Saint of Vengeance Les Mort 13

Yeah I put wires in the tie and added some additional wires to the coat. The cross is from the 10th Anniversary Spawn figure. I no longer have the figure (it honestly kinda sucked) but the cross is great.

Ahh, thanks for the info. I'll be on the lookout for that spawn fig.
I think I like him better without the molded belt/holsters.
