Havaldir 1st Sikh's
Was going to wait to publish this fig but he is sailing his way to Canada in my boxes for my move there, but a few people have asked to it, so please excuse the bad photos.
This figure represents a Havildar (sergeant) of the 1st Sikh Batt. Rangoon in 1943. He wears no insignia which was the SOP's for front line appart from his rank. I have had agreat interest in our Sikh brothers in arms, as a good friend of the family served with them in WWII my friend Arjan Singh, who showed me how to tie the turban but let me do it so he could have a good laugh, and what a F'ing nightmare that was. Ref came from the book The Indian Army 1914-1947 (elite) by Ian Sumner and Mike Chappell. Published by Osprey.
Break down is,
Body: Carnot DID, head repainted (first attempt so be gentle).
Uniform and Equip: BBI Harry Collins, plus extra water bottle (as was the norm for tropic enviroment), Dragon.
Turban and sweat band: hand built and tied from a sweat rag I was issued in Iraq (unused).
Hope you enjoy this and any criticisms, comments are as always much appreciated.
Cheers
Shaun
Thanks again for looking.
Shaun

Great work, Shaun. Sikh's are an interest of mine too, super job on the turban and very natural yet dramatic looking action pose.
Here's a good site with pretty easy Sikh style turban tying instructions: http://fateh.sikhnet.com/s/TyingTurbans
In case you need info on tying another type of turban I'm attaching this:

Carnot is a great Sikh headsculpt choice. I wish I had thought of that for my INA Sargent. You did a fantastic job!

Outstanding job Shaun, and the use of the Carnot HS is inspired.
Good luck in Canada!

Sweet job. Where in Canada you headed. We've a pretty active group of guys here in Ottawa. Toronto and Calgary appear to be centres of the hobby as well. Some decent dealers here as well. Urban Samurai in Vancouver and Toys 2 in Toronto are bricks and mortar and usually have great displays on the go. Let us know, we'll throw you a "Welcome to Canada" dio shoot.

bro great subject and figure!.Im sikh and have grown up around great war stories and am proud to know that they served on the frontlines and were regarded as some of the bravest warriors. The word Sikh actually means warrior and sikhism is actually a faith and not a religion as some people mistake it to be..It actually has alot in common with buddism as its basis are grounded in the whole Karma philosophy.
once again great bash!!

Not a problem thank you, getting positive critism from yourself is the best I could get. You have a VERY proud heritage one I think does get enough recognition.
Thank you.
