Ti-Lite Kar98 Sniper Rifle: Need Help With Scope
Hi there!
Sorry all! I posted this a few days ago, but under Ti Lite Mosin-Nagant w/Scope, by mistake.
I should also mention, I've since found out that Ti-Lite released a NEWER version of the Kar98 Sniper (also the regular version, and the Mosin Nagant versions, for that matter), which, according to the pics I've seen, either come with the scope already attached, or, with the Scope Posts attached, for the rings to easily snap into!
My older version, looks just like the regular Kar98, in that there are absolutely no holes, tabs, etc, for the scope posts to attach to, and the rings and posts are already connected together. If you look at the pics of the newer version, the forward most post seems to have a tab of some sort, that helps secure it to the rifle, which, if my older version's scope posts had, I would be able to secure the scope to the rifle, without a problem! As it stands, the posts, with rings already attached, and on the scope, just have the concave bottoms, and no clear way of securing to the rifle, save, maybe epoxy, or a super fine welding job lol!
Anyway, here's the question I accidentally posed under the Mosin-Nagant heading:
Hi All!
I was wondering if anyone could help me out, regarding the scope for the Ti-Lite Kar98 Sniper version? How, in the name of God, do you install it on the rifle lol??? I purchased the Mosin-Nagant Sniper version, and the scope was easy to attatch, but for the Kar98 there are no mounting points, slots, screws, anything, like the Nagant has. I'm not sure if you're supposed to glue it, somehow, or what lol?
I should mention that when I received the Kar98, the bayonet was missing, although, there was a space for one, cut out in the foam & fabric insert, that's in the wooden case the rifle comes in. It also had a slot for the scope, which was there. I just mention this, as, when I contacted the seller, about getting a replacement bayonet, he said that Ti-Lite doesn't make 'loose' bayonets, and he doesn't open the packaging (the crate in the case of the Kar98 & a plastic wrap for the Mosin-Nagant), and this was clear to me when I received my order. The mistake must have been made at the Ti-Lite 'factory'. At any rate, point being, maybe I also received the wrong version of the Kar98? I might have received the standard Kar98, which has no scope, in my crate. From the pictures I've seen, I can see no difference between the two, nor can I tell just how the scope is mounted, on the Sniper version. Needless to say, it's been quite frustrating lol!!
If anyone can help me out, either with instructions on how to mount the scope, or confirmation that the Sniper version of the rifle, somehow, is different, to accept the scope, that would be most appreciated!
Thanks very much!
Ron
P.S. I have seen a picture of a Sniper version Kar98, in Ti-Lite's plastic wrap, as opposed to the wooden crate, and it looks like it comes with the scope already mounted, though the bayonet is loose.

I don't have the rifle but see if the photos here help: http://www.actionfiguren-shop.com/ac...et.html?lang=1 . I've included a thumbnail of a boxed Ti-lite Kar98 sniper version with the scope already mounted. It sounds like you got a standard Kar98 like you suspect. It shouldn't be that difficult to drill a couple of mounting holes in the top of the barrel near the breach to mount the scope yourself. You can use the photos as a guide, for instance the rear bracket on the scope seems to line up just in front of the bolt - there's your first hole. The second hole you can measure from the first.
It appears that you should have received a bayonet and scabbard, I suggest writing the manufacturer and request a replacement.

Thanks for your suggestion, that may very well work! I'm honestly not sure if it's a mistake, and I received the wrong rifle model, or not, as, like I said, the initial version of the Kar98 Sniper, which I purchased, came in a 1/6th size wooden crate, and the foam inside had cut-outs to hold the rifle, the separate scope (with the posts on it, I should mention), and the bayonet w/scabbard (clearly I should have received that). I've seen the picture you included, and suspect it is the newer version, with the scope attached. The other pics of the newer version show the posts attached to the rifle, where the scope rings would clearly 'plug in', so I suspect, given the scope comes already on the rifle, in the new version, that it is is now removable, in the same manor.
Regardless, I still need to attach my scope lol, and your idea sounds like a good one, as long as I'm careful lol!
Thanks!
Ron

I'm not sure how much this will help...but here goes. The real rifle is a Kar98 fitted with what was commonly known as a "turrent mount" that allowed the scope to be mounted and dismounted quickly without loosing zero. The taller block on top of the receiver immediately behind the open sight is attached to the upper receiver and has a round hole in the top. A cleated round paw is attached to the lower side of the front scope ring. The scope is held 90 degrees out (pointed sideways to the barrel) and the paw incerted into the hole. The scope is then rotated 90 degrees to align with the barrel. A latch attaches the rear scope ring to the rear mount behind the case ejection port. To remove is just the opposite....disconnect the latch, rotate the scope 90 degrees left and pull up. Now how Ti-Lite decided to model this I have no idea. If you have the scope and rifle, you might try drilling a micro hole in the receiver and scope, then incert a small pin. Glue in place and you're in business. It's a perminent fix however. I wish I could give you pictures of the real deal, unfortunately I sold that rifle some 5 years ago and haven't found a suitable replacement yet....but I'm still looking.
