Scratch built PT upper arms and shoulders
Most of the the figures I try to do or want to do are Gi Joe characters, super heroes. or video game characters. I use mostly Power Team figures as bases and I have always been a little disappointed with the small arms they have. A while back I tried sculpting bigger arm and shoulder muscles on to the PT.
big guns Punisher vs. Barracuda
I was not very happy with how these turned out because I lost the bicep joint and it made some poses look strange. Around the first of the year I decided to take another crack at pumping up PT arms and decided the best route would be to start from scratch on the shoulders and upper arms and then mold and cast the ones I made. 6 months, a drill press, milling vise, band saw, stationary sander and many hours of work later here is what I came up with. The pics are the first 3 sets that were cast, painted and assembled. I did not do a very good jobs laying the molds out and have to do about 20-45 min of sanding and fitting on each set before painting and putting them together. This was my first attempt at anything like this and a lot was learned. I am pretty happy with the result although they could be much better. The arms have full range of movement and really make the pt figure look better I think.

Very cool! You seem to be well on your way to sculpting an entire figure. Man,, I really need to learn how to cast and mold pieces...
Do you have any plans to modify any other pieces?

Thanks for the comments. I plan on try to beef up the upper legs next. I need to order some more silicone first. Hopefully the legs will not be as hard because I can leave the factory hip joint.

The problem I have with the "super articulated" PT figure is that the forearms are too short and not in proportion. Does that bother you at all?
P.S. I've got several older PT bodies that need repair. I'd love to see a picture heavy tutorial on taken 'em apart, molding, etc. You know, in your spare time, and all. ;-)

I have never noticed the forearms being to short, but now that you mention it maybe they are. Taking the figures apart is pretty easy I just cut down the seam line with and exacto knife and then use a wood chisle and rubber mallet to crack them open. I plan on making some upper legs next so I will try and remember to take some pics of the process.

I commend you. I have yet to get into the realm of casting. So, I think you are miles ahead. Good job.
