Hot Toys - MMS 67 - The Dark Knight - 1/6th scale BATMAN full spec and pics

At last, here it is. The Bale sculpt looks amazing from some angles.

The bad news is that last line, it looks like these are intended to be an Asian exclusive line, but I'm sure some US etailers will get them. If not, it's time to start saving your shipping money as well, cos it's a deffinet SST won't be getting them because of their Marvel connections.
It may be to do with Mattel having the US 1/6 licence as well

Hot Toys - MMS 67 - The Dark Knight - 1/6th scale BATMAN (Original Costume)

This outstanding 1/6th scale Batman collectible, stands approximately 32 cm tall, featuring Hot Toys figure body with over 32 points of articulation.

The Batman head and the original Bat-suit are newly developed for The Dark Knight release, the newly developed Bat-suit is best fit for Hot Toys True Type body.

The articulation of Hot Toys True Type figure body is also improved for better poses, which is capable to nearly any pose that Batman presents in the movie.

The Dark Knight Batman 12 inches collectible figure also features:
l Alternate head with authentic likeness of Christian Blade as Bruce Wayne
l Detailed Batman’s Utility Belt with cell phone
l Activated Mini Mine
l Grapnel Gun
l Two small Batrangs on belt clip (removable)
l Pneumatic Mangler
l Newly developed Bat-suit with cape
l Three sets of interchangeable gloved hands
l Figure display base featuring THE DARK KNIGHT logo and BATMAN nameplate

Release date: Q3, 2008

FOR SALE IN HONG KONG & JAPAN ONLY

The Bale HS is a bit bland and non-descript. The custom posted here actually looks better.

The bodysuit while fantastic, is a bit strange on the legs. It seems the best pose for Batman is just standing. On the pics where Batman bend his left leg, the knee doesn't align well with the knee pad. Too bad HT doesn't imitate Takara's design.

The batarang is too thick.

Other than that, this is a very nice figure. Huge improvements from previous HT offering.

I'll ditto what I said in the Joker thread: if this is an asian exclusive I don't need one that badly. Shame since I had ear-marked these two figures as must haves...but I'm not going to pay the almost assured insane prices to get one shipped here...plus "scalpers" fees. We've gotta remember this isn't HT's fault in all of this...just a bad combination of circumstances.

Its confirmed.. I just check out Hot Toys website.. Its a Hong Kong and Japan exclusive..

The sellers from japan and hk over at evilbay would have a field day subjecting us to price brutality..

I really can't understand what is going on..Is it that HT think that only HK and Japan got fans of The Dark Knight and The Joker??

Well, its not the end of the world and neither is it a must have for these 2 figures ( though i would really liked to have a Joker figure )

I'm sure HT would love to put these out in the US and Europe. But it did say-

FOR SALE IN HONG KONG & JAPAN ONLY

They even put it in capital letters, so this must be the 'official' line.
I'm gonna guess, and this is just a guess, that some good etailers in the US and Europe will secure some. The fact Mattel and DC direct have the the North American 1/6 rights, coupled with SST relationship with Marvel (and SST of course being the US HT distributor) mean this is going to be a tough find for some just used to ordering from SST.
But if you're willing to do some on line searching you'll find them, and I'd say it's one to pre-order, and fast!

Meh, I got my Takara version so I am happy with that. I don't need a second original costume figure. Now if this was the second costume, then we might have something.

Kinda overdid it with the skin texture on the Bat-Chin, didn't they? You can totally tell it's Robert Davi under the cowl

A huge improvement from the first release, and almost winning over Takara's in everyway in terms of details and finish. BUT... the overall proportion is still a bit ...funny. Have to say its pretty darn close, but something about the length of the neck, hte width of the hip, the length of the legs...etc. makes the figure don't look as cool as it should be. Something just look off... while Takara's is extreme on being too 'cool' with more anime proportion and lose the accuracy. Looks like HT did copy the layout of the suit for the most part, which is probably a good thing. A lot of nice things going on, and Batman looks great in all cropped photos. But once you see the full body shots, then it still feels off proportion wise...man, but its darn close.

I do like the more simple original costume, so need to think if I should get this. But really need to think hard...since I already have the Takara's, and don't quite feel like it totally lost its charm comparing to this. So...close HT, sooooo close...

I have the Takara one and I'm happy with it, both are really good. The extra accessories on this one are nice, but I want to see how their rubber is after the appleseed problems.

Finally, Hot Toys redeem themselves after their bad first offering. Definitely getting this one... question is, where's "The Dark Knight" costume?

Really love the updated version of the Begins figure... w/the Superman rerelease I wasn't that excited (at least not enough to upgrade) but on the Begins figure its a no-brainer. It looks like they took all the parts of the first figure that sucked and fixed them.

From some online stores, they gave a end of July ship date, soon after the release of the movie.

Have been studying the pics all day. Really want to like this figure a lot, and part of me do want a more movie accurate Batman, even though I love my Takara. HT just made a lot of the parts so darn nice. Still can't quite get past the proportion still. As I tried to pose my Takara in similar poses as shown in the pics. Takara still wins in terms of being more natural and 'looking cool'. But once you zoom closer, HT wins on almost all parts. Its back to the phrase of two years ago... "If only HT's & Takara's could merge into one." Really itching to preorder this HT Batman ver.2. But at the same time keep telling myself one Batman (original suit) is probably good enough. Not too sure I am liking the new suit design, so still don't know what to do yet.

good point on the knee and kneepad alignment...i guess if you pose him in a somewhat kneeling position, it may look awkward...

i may still want the takara version...IMHO

They said in the news letter-

Save some money for your next TDK 1/6th......

How's the "appetizers" of TDK which we've announced this month? Besides of Batman and The Joker, we are going to surprise you with something superior and incredible in next month! You know we mean it! A little tip for our lovely fans: THREE more TDK items will be coming out in June. Seriously stick around at- www.hottoys.com.hk

Oh please, oh please!
