Hot Toys new MMS license - Appleseed Saga EX MACHINA - We are super excited to pre-launch a MMS product under a new license on our homepage today! A 3D CG animated movie, Appleseed Saga EX MACHINA, is going to hit the theater in Japan on 20th Oct. This movie is produced by the world-class filmmaker - JOHN WOO, and two of the costumes were designed by the famous fashion designer – MIUCCIA PRADA. Isn’t it cool? Familiar yourself with the movie background and the brilliant characters via this movie official website: http://www.exmachina.jp. As the official announce date of the figures is scheduled in mid OCT only, please forgive us of not debut the product images yet, but we promised that you’ll expect to receive the official images within next week! If you wanna know how our first ever 1/6th animated figures will look like, be the first to preview them by staying tuned on our site!

Appleseed was one hell of a movie and Shirow is one of my all time favorites. I can't wait to see this movie and the pics of the figures.

Sound like Great news. I guess I mimic Ray in saying I hope HT does a good job with these figures. If nothing else as long as the gear is good there will be plenty of room for customizing.

This is so funny, I just watched Appleseed last night... I didn't even know they were making more! This is great news, I'd love a good Deunan and Briarieos!

Damn, I've really gotten away from buying higher end and/or media property figures but I'll probably have to make an exception here.
I'm not a big fan of the Hot Toys female body's "beer keg" physique but it'll still be cool to have a 1/6 scale figure of Deunan.

I doubt theyll be doin landmates but one can always dream
It would be do-able if HT went into articulated 1/9 scale (I know, blasphemy) like Medicoms RAH220 line.
Cant wait to see the EX Machina figs!

I don't think a Landmate is out of the question, what with ED-209 and the Powerloader in high demand. It would be roughly the same size. I doubt it would be a first release, but down the line I'd be expecting one.
Now, a 1:6 Mobile Platform Tank anyone?

I just made in my pants.
I discovered Appleseed when I was around 18 year old-- I'm 35 now. THAT'S how long I've been waiting for this!!! 1/6 Applseed figures!!!!!
I do wish they were using Shirow's art rather than the animated look for the figure's designs-- but I'll still take it!!!!!!!
This is gonna be awesome!

Appleseed? I was hoping for Johnny Appleseed, and maybe a Paul Bunyan with Babe the Blue Ox.

Oh please, oh please-
I'm guessing by the release we'll be getting Deunan in combat gear first + hopefully Briarieos, then Deunan in the Prada outfits, and knowing how ambitious HT are, maybe just maybe a Landmate-

Is this movie going to be manga or like the Final Fantasy movies? The FF movies rock and look amazing on an HD TV.

It's a bit like Final Fantasy in that in it uses that very 3D style computer animation. On the other hand, the characters are rendered in a somewhat more manga style. I thought the 2004 movie (to which Ex Machina is the sequel) was pretty visually stunning. I think they did a good job of staying true to the look Shirow created back in the '80s while at the same time updating it.
Being a fan of the manga, I wasn't all that impressed with the story of the first movie. It does look cool however and if you aren't familiar with the manga, the story probably stands up pretty well.

The 2004 version was the first thing i watched when I'd set up my HD TV and finally got round to setting up my surround sound after moving house... it absolutely freakin blew me away! As Miatch says the story isn't that true to the Manga but visually and aurally it's one hell of a ride.
And John Woo has directed the sequel so I am reasonably excited it should as our American freinds say 'rock'!

Hmm, I'm more into the 'synthespians' from FF than I am Manga. FF on Blu Ray or HD/DVD must be incredible.

I am stoked for this... Takara [rumor has it that they're doing a battle-suited Deunan Knute in their Character Tribute series...may debut at a hobby show this weekend] and Hot Toys both doing characters from my favorite property! I hope we get both versions of Bri (pre and post cyborgization) from both companies...
I'm a fan of the manga from way back and I've got to agree with Mlatch on the first movie, visual powerhouse but a little weak on the story. Can't wait to see how Ex Machina fares. Pretty good time to be a Shirow fan!
