I must admit that I initially thought that this was going to be a model of Serenity... This tank is pretty cool, though!

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

Notice how the long barrel is camo painted to look like a shorter "regular" 75MM Sherman barrel....German tank and anti-tank gunner crews tried to take out the long barreled Fireflys first, as they knew they could do more damage to German armour.......

It's well done DML for releasing this beauty...we had hoped for it for some time, and now it's here.

It was also capable of killing a Tiger, but didn't arrive until late 44, early 45! For Normandy era your looking at the Firefly if you're going Tiger hunting, although there were a few Churchills with 6pdrs firing APDS too!

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

This is the most exciting news to me since I started this hobby! I would have preferred a Firefly Vc, (which would have given us an M4A4, and could then have been used for my Italian campaign troops). But this model was at least used by the Canadians, mainly in Holland, so it's a must-buy for me.

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

I better start shaking the piggy bank any news on price? Is it in kit form or pre- made.

Woops just seen its a kit and its 499 dollars, which means it'll be 500 sterling over the pond. I still want it though.

Could still use Allied tank crew figures though......wonder why nobody, DML or otherwise, isn't doing any.....they'd make nothing but money on those.......

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

1/6PD you ain't kidding about that. If DID or Solder Story came out with a solid tanker with US jerry cans or a Brit with some Flimsy's they could make some noise in this hobby. Not sure why that is so hard for these companies to figure out but that seems like a no brainer to me. Build a Tank and make a tanker figure. I just wish someone would make more Jerry cans for all of these tanks that are now hitting the market and a endless supply of bits and pieces for these tanks would be a plus as well.

Nice release! I just wanted to have more room.
I think we'll probably see more 1/6 tankers and related stuff when the upcoming movie Fury come out.

The best choice for the next tanker would be to have the olive denim tank overall, the warm weather choice for Brit crews. Nobody's made it yet.

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

It seems that we have it all figured out (no pun intended) when it comes to tanker figures......but the manufacturers don't seem to be interested.....strange.....

Oh well, at least one of them is making tanks......wouldn't have believed that 5 years ago.....

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

I saw this yesterday and did a double take. Looks great in the picture. I don't think my modeling skills would do this justice...especially at $500.

Totally in agreement on the lack of Allied tanker gear out there. Someone would do well releasing a uniform/helmet/jerry can set. When the 21c ones pop up on eBay they bring stupid money.

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

The most frustrating parts is, DML did a U.S. gas can, so they have the molds. But they don't seem to want to use them to make any more.......

Actually, DML made one on their Fred Upton figure, they just made it in the wrong colour is all!

I'd love that have this, I just wish it wasn't a kit. I know I'd never get around to building it. Does anyone know if it has to be painted as well?

Re: Dragon 1/6 Firefly

It's foolhardy for me to post this, but . . .

I'd want at least a dozen fully assembled and customized with complimenting crew for each tank and supporting infantry & vehicles.

After that, all I need is a rubber Godzilla-ish outfit and a few friends with a HD camcorder.

Kits are (usually) inherently un-painted....and this one is likely no exception to that.....

The last DML Sherman kit was up-painted and molded in a light grey plastic.....

In fact, all the DML vehicle/weapon kits have been un-painted......

So no, you don't have to paint it, but it would be more prototypical in green than light grey.......

Not quite true, the Comet could quite easily deal with a Tiger at battle ranges and the 6 pdr in 44 had the APDS rounds which were almost as good allowing a frontal kill on a tiger at 1000yds. Some Churchill units in Italy nad NWe refitted 6 pdrs in place of the 75 for that reason to act like the Firefly did as a TD within the troop.

By the time the fIREFLY was serving in NWE the US cans were getting rarer on Tanks as most in US and British Supply system were the British Copy of the German can as it was easier to ship rolls of sheet steel and press them in the UK than ship cans across the Atlantic. Look at the photos of the big US dumps in the Bulge etc and you'll see lots of them.
The US cans were issued with the Tanks but they are rarely seen on Brit tanks in NWE
