Lightbulb Tokyo Wonder Festival 2007 Summer (more than just figures) WARNG: Adult Content

This is my first time to visit this, one of the biggest figure hobby exhibition in the world, that is held twice a year at Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center. This morning I went to the venue at the opening time but was shocked by the number of people already waiting there. I guess the queue was like 2 km long! It took me more than 1 hour to get into the exhibition hall.

But I think it worths the waiting. It is so overwhelming with lots of cool action figures of all scales, PVC figures, plastic models, cosplayers, figure designers, etc. Truely an eye opening event. Well, this is not really the normall 1/6 stuff we do here. But I still want to share this with everyone.

It took me more than 1 hour in the queue to get into the exhibition hall.

Yokoyama's work is one of my favorite. This is the 25th anniversary of his Maschinen Krieger work

The new female Kerberos figure will be released soon although I can't tell what is the difference

A diorama with three 1/6 customized Jin Roh. There are also 1:1 exhibits being shown

A custom made figure with a bit of cartoon look but details are amazing

Lots of PVC still figures based on well known characters

This is for Calvin. SF version of Guan Yu is nothing. This female version is taking Chinese culture to an extreme!

New line of Roveltech. The joints are hidden nicely to make it better for fem figures

New Roveltech Rei

I guess this is 1/4 by some Japanese figure artist. (http://replica.sub.jp/) I found these figures resemble a lot to those in the anime movie "Innocence"

(Well, I'm not sure if it is alright to show this here. Site Admin, I shall remove this if it is not ok.) Normally exhibits cannot be touched but this one is an exception. Touch is actually encouraged. When I touch it the feeling was as real as human flesh (just missing the body temperature). This is so scary! I think this is same material as those making the 1:1 sex dolls

Another item I am not sure if I should display but I am really impressed about the skin texture realism. "She" is so real!

1/6 fashion figures. Very nice costumes and facial features. It would be even better if it is not sculpted hair

I actually found these cute soldier figures very cool. The gear is so amazing. Too bad only 2 of them are for sale but sold out

Some figure customizer made the whole Ghost In The Shell Section 9 team in 1/6. Again, sold out!

MGS 1/6 still figure series. Very high quality and good design

Among all MGS figures, I like this female the best. Very stylish!

Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the pics Ray! I gathered that you had a great time there? The queue IS amazingly long! I can only imagine though, although if possible, it looks like I have to make Tokyo a destination next July?

The female MGS figure looks incredible! Even if it is not articulated, I would want to add that beauty to my collection! Probably cost an arm and a leg though.

I added a warning, tho no doubt it'll draw more than it would w/o it. Still, my call is that the subjects' qualities outweigh their possible controversy, subject to staff decisions or waves of complaints.

That aside, once again I am stunned by the talent and variety of work shown here. Thanks, Ray.

Thanks for sharing the picts Ray. I was once at Shizuoka Hobby Show back in 1999 when I was in Mishima City for a business trip. The nice folks in my then parent company drove me to Shizuoka (home of Tamiya incidently) for attending. And I know exactly the atmosphere of such shows... simply electrifying!
