Re: 101st Airborne, Operation Market Garden
excellent job on the weathering, and the headsculpt looks like a real character!
my only caveat is that the m42 uniform is much more appropriate for normandy... there are a few pictures showing some m42 jackets worn in holland, but the m43 uniform was worn by almost all us airborne by market garden.
cheers,
rob

I guess that is DML's M42, how did you make that so fit?

Re: 101st Airborne, Operation Market Garden
Great figure, but reminds me more of a Normandy paratrooper, what with the M42 uniform. No telling what division he's from though....no shoulder flash.
And I suspect you left the helmet netting off so we could see that great looking helmet....right?

Re: 101st Airborne, Operation Market Garden
Thanks a lot for the info guys, I stand corrected on the Op. I may switch out his pants for M43 to make it correct.

The helmet marking indicates he is from the 2nd Bn 506th PIR 101st AB - of which E Company is the unit featured in "Band of Brothers".
504th PIR 82nd AB was (I think) the only unit to wear M42 uniforms in Holland.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the proper designation, but I believe the 101st wore green para uniforms that were just darker than Marine dungarees. I am just going from memory here, but oh well.
In any event, that's a pretty nice trooper you've got! I love the detailing and weathering. Is it me, or are more and more people using Soldier Story's Mr. EOD as WWII figs?

Re: 101st Airborne, Operation Market Garden
101 in Op Market wore Green Jump unis. It depends not all did but a large number had green. If you do a glider "Version" They had goggles. Really its however you see fit. Looks cool either way. The 101 in WWII is my favorite so I make sure they look the best. Everyone will have a different POV but it looks cool nice job.

That headsculpt would be a good one for a Sgt. Rock kitbash!
