Yeah, I have no idea what this is either, and it seems effing ridiculous, BUT it's a really well made figure with a good sculpt AND open mouth that looks good - that's a hard look to pull off.
Pretty cool figure.

For those who don't know who/what this character is, this is one of the primary characters from the Chinese epic story "Journey to the West". Regarded as one of the three/four greats of Chinese literature. The story is truly long and epic, and in a nutshell involves the journey of the mythical main characters towards enlightenment. The story has been hugely on Japanese pop culture (including Dragonball). A lot of the concepts in the story (magical staffs, giant spiders) may have had influence beyond Asia.
Make all the snarky comments you want, but this story is centuries old, and won't likely to be ever forgotten.
Very well done figure.

Bizarre, but cool,
This is to do with the Monkey King. There was a TV show I used to see called Monkey and in it was a character called Pigsy, I think this is a representation of him.

It is amazing to see a company to take the risk to release this character figure.
I love "Journey to the West", love the characters. However...
Unless it is cheap, I think it is hard to get people to spend money on this one.... it is simply too many other figure to buy.
