Female Russian Paratrooper
Hello OSW -
Here is just one that I had on the shelf and decided to spruce up a bit.
I got the inspiration from a photo - I included at the bottom. I liked the idea of Russian female paratroops with the traditional striped shirts.
Here I took a CyGirl...with a few obvious enhancements - and put some gel in the hair and re-did the facepaint a bit.. I used a 21C striped shirt that I cut and sewed into a tank top. I took some old woodland pants (no name) and sewed the traditional crease down the center. Hand-made leather belt and bayonet frog to complete the set up. The beret is one that I made from felt (similar to the others I have posted).
The rifle is a kit I picked up on ebay from Hong Kong.....really nifty after a decent paintjob.
I really like this figure. Very simple.
Hope you all like it too.
Take care
Tom

Re: Female Russian Paratrooper
I love it Tom. I've thought about making a female Russian soldier for some time. And that beret is excellent. You wouldn't happen to have a how-to on that, would you?

Re: Female Russian Paratrooper
Actually....I got the technique off of somebody here at OSW - I basically took a sewing spool and cut a section out of it so it can be removed after the process so the finished beret can slip off. I take a piece of felt and stretch it over the spool - then I take a rubber band and wrap it around the felt and spool. Taking the ends of the felt I pull hard and stretch until there is no folds - then I take a piece of black webbing and super-glue it to the felt. Then I cut the rubberband - loosen and remove the spool section and slip off the beret. After I just cut the leftover on the edge of the band. After I iron it and shape it...in this instance...the Russian beret is a bit different from a US beret so I have to fold and shape accordingly.
Thanks for the comment!!!
