Thumbs up Mail Call in The 'Nam (Lots'o Pics)

There's been a huge amount of Vietnam stuff on the boards lately, so I thought I'd share what I've been slowly working and building on.

The majority of these parts and bodies came from Blackops Toys. There's a mish-mash of Dragon, 21st Century, InFlames, and BBI.
And that's just the equipment.

I'll let you know right now, I really miss doing outside shoots.

The sniper is my most recent addition to the group. I've still got work to do on the rifle. If you take note of the string coming from his pants pocket, I heard somewhere that shoelaces were quite the commodity in the field, as they had a hundred and one uses, so I thought I'd implement that with this figure a bit.

The Sarge. Letters from home in one pocket, and a tourniquet on his shoulder, finished with a spoon on his helmet. He's ready for anything.

Here's some shots of the helmet cover. I broke out a marker and had some fun.

An M60 Gunner, carrying his trusty 'Pig'. He has "rang, mac du!" written on his helmet, which, in Vietnamese, roughly means "Die, Dog!". He also has a large, non-regulation knife on the back of his belt.

An M14 Rifleman, loaded up with his pack, extra canteens, and a machete.

I thought I'd fill you guys in on what I've been up to lately, and I do have some fun projects on the horizon as well.
As always, love to hear what you all have to say.

Re: Mail Call in The 'Nam (Lots'o Pics)

Great mix of Marines! My only suggestion is to ditch the 30-round mag on Sarge - he wouldn't be carrying one of those unless he'd bought it himself and had it shipped from the States!

Thanks a lot!
Haha yeah I know the 30rd Mag is a bit of a stretch, but at the time, was all I had available. I'll probably fix it in the near future though.

Great figures Pickle!
Not too concerned re absolute accuracy, as the Nam war showed lots of clothing and weapon variation.
Enjoy!

That is what I enjoy about Nam...a wide variety of personal customization.
From the beginning to the end, such a variation of gear and uniforms,
To me so much more interesting that the current "state of the art".

Especially with units like SOG and the SEALs which showed a favor for customization.

Re: Mail Call in The 'Nam (Lots'o Pics)

What a fantastic bunch. It is so nice to see all these `Nam figures appearing recently.... Although it does mean the existing loose gear will disappear even faster! Listen up manufacturers - we need more of it!

Great mail call ! The grunt on the left got no mail, and the devil dog second from the right (next to Nicolas Cage) looks like he got a "Dear John" letter.
Hey, well done!

Re: Mail Call in The 'Nam (Lots'o Pics)

A fine group of guys you got there
The 30 round magazines where VERY uncommon but not out of the realm of possibility, especially for an NCO or higher. One of my own 'Nam sergeants has one

Well it also depends on the unit and in what war year it is set. The 30 round mags where given out to regular units in 1969 and I do have photos of Soldiers from the 101st of 1970 or 1971 where you can see em using the 30rd M16 mags.
