Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
HT's version sucks because of its over-scaled size.I'm down with the black variant.

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
Nice, I have the rifle from the TC NSW Marksman which is similar.
I think its a well detailed gun and these are worth getting.
I just hope they retail for a fair price.

No, it's their own mold, I have the MK14 Rifleman version and the various HT versions and the Sage chasis on the TC is better detailed, the allen screws have better detail and the Kydex guard on the charging handle conceals that the charging handle is a separate piece, unlike the HT version.

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
As Garaballo said, the TC version, which first came with their Marksman SEAL, is definitely NOT a HT copy. The scale on the TC one is much better and it is all around a superior piece, in my opinion. I am really happy to see it rereleased, especially with that scope!

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
Huh. Well, then. I guess I can skip the part where I try to customize the Mk14 that came with the SEAL mountain ops figure into a sniper variant, and fret over what I'm going to replace the sniper scope from a Mk11 or HK417 with .
I was really, really impressed by the Mk14 before. I think it's one if the best pieces that TC has done, and I'm down for the blued version for sure.

It says launched, not launcher, and i assume they mean that they didn't do a black version before. Sand has been done, silver has been done. Black hasn't. At least not from them.

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
I have the Marksman guy, and it's a nice rifle (if a bit on the fragile-side).
As long as the quality is ok (the rifle from my JSOC set literally came apart right out of the box), I'm in for a black one.

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
These look nice. Here's hoping to see some more variants of them with a M4/crane stock and even solid stock. I know HT have done both in the past with their weapon sets, but those were years ago and are hard to track down these days.
Love to see some in Sand for general release, and even AOR etc.

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
I got mine a little while ago but haven't had a chance to comment (or photograph) it yet. In general, it's everything I love and hate about Toys City: they do things nobody else is doing and they're pretty good, but they constantly get tripped up by the tiny details.
Good things: The weapon looks pretty in-scale and the sculpting and detailing matches the Mk14 that came with one of their earlier releases. The stock alone is very nicely engineered, pulling out and in smoothly and with a cheek rest that raises and lowers. Magazine is removable, of course, and the bolt moves smoothly as well. The Leupold scope may not be as insanely detailed as Soldier Story, but it's certainly good enough IMO, with nice details and working covers. The bipod is another piece that may not be as insane as the SS release, but it works fine. I actually don't like the SS bipod because the adjustable legs can come loose from the bipod. That doesn't happen with this bipod -- it's a case where I think the drive for total accuracy in SS yields a product that's too easy to break or lose parts for (see also: their Elcan Specter gunsight). The PEQ-15 also fits beautifully on the rifle.
Bad things: Three things that really exemplify why TC is second-best at best:
- There was a bit of flash in the back scope mount (the one nearer to the stock) that was a real pain to get out. It's a tiny little piece and I didn't want to get too zealous and break off the whole mounting point. Even after getting most of it out, it seems that the rear part of the scope doesn't want to stay in the hole -- I'm probably going to have to Krazy Glue it sooner or later.
- The kit comes with a foregrip along with the bipod, but there's no place to attach the foregrip to the rifle. TC's foregrips mount by pegs, not on the rail like a Soldier Story/Playhouse/Crazy Dummy part, but the holes in the Mk14 handguard are recessed so the lip on the foregrip won't fit. It seems like there ought to be a Picatinny rail at the bottom. Only alternative is to leave it off or cannibalize a rail from some other weapon. I don't know how they got the foregrip on the rifles in the photos above. Or did I just miss something obvious?
- The rifle comes with pretty nice padded sling, but the sling mounts are just a tiny bit too narrow. You really have to force the sling through these tiny little plastic holes to get it on. I think I even cracked the rear sling mount, but the sling does seem to be able to support the weight of the rifle anyway.
Anyway, I'm glad I have the one I do, and I think it's a reasonable price to pay for the piece. It's just the little QC things that keep happening with TC releases that make me nuts.

I was really happy with mine, but I had the same concerns you did. The weird thing is that apparently there are indeed 1/1 MK14s with a foregrip attached, but no rails, which I don't understand. It doesn't change the fact that the TC foregrip can't be attached to the rifle without gluing it, which is a drag, but at least it can still be "accurate."

Re: TOYS CITY – MK14 MOD0 Rifle Sniper Version
The real Mk14's with the grip installed are using a different grip that flush mounts to the bottom of the hand guard and is bolted to the gun (from the photos that I have seen).
Maybe some work with a razorblade to reduce the grip to a flush mount and some super glue would do the trick.
I too bought this gun and I have to say that I am in agreement with all of the complaints, although I had no problems with the flash on the rear mount. Mine went together fine.
Concerning the Soldier Story bipods; I put some blutack into the bipod (just a very small piece) and then inserted the leg and I haven't had any problem with the legs falling out anymore. The blutack gives it enough friction to allow you to adjust the leg and keep it in place. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to be able to adjust their bipods or just keep the legs in place.
