Re: Remote Control Black Box Toys - EOD Robot
Very cool. This is TALON - SWORDS right?
I'd be interested in the control box loose but that'll probably be impossible to find loose.
I can't pick out anything that needs a suggestion but if the gun mount moves they should improve the mechanism's range of motion. The arm on my EOD bot had very limited range.
Is this one actually remote-controlled? The last one was a pita to convert to r/c.
It could be a little misleading if advertised like that.
Looks very promising to say the least.

Re: Remote Control Black Box Toys - EOD Robot
Well, if this ain't a thing of beauty, IDK what it is.
Yeah, Saiko, this is the Talon SWORDS, but this one has been discontinued for a while, there's a crazy version with 4 M203s and an M240B.
Good stuff, too bad I have the older EOD robot, which is just about fine by me.

Re: Remote Control Black Box Toys - EOD Robot
Lot of hard work went into that controller
I am really hoping that you guys like the way that I laid out and labeled the control functions. In the research it was REALLY tough to find control function layouts that would fit BBT's work up to that point. There was a lot of designing and redesigning to get it in a workable form.

Re: Remote Control Black Box Toys - EOD Robot
Looks really cool! I for one missed out on the eod robot. Will this have the "claw" arm as well or just the mg? Interested depending on the price. Not sure what the other bot went for.

Not sure what the price will be - that is not part of my AOR, but I am hoping it will be affordable - that way I can get one too

Sorry, I had meant to answer that one - you are correct sir It is based on the Foster Miller TALON SWORDS ( Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Detection System ).

All of that was already made. I only worked on the research and layout of the control panel functions.

It reminds me of a customized or made to order timing belt which is pretty dang clever on their part.
@SEF thanks for the confirmation, the control box looks great!

Re: Remote Control Black Box Toys - EOD Robot
That is cool. As long as they haven't painted the thing black. The last time, paint started chipping off the metal.
And you made this Mike!!! That is awesome!!! Truly AWESOME!!!

Re: Remote Control Black Box Toys - EOD Robot
I am hopeful that the paint will be good ( read durable ). Even on Soldier Story painted metal parts ( my benchmark for quality ), there can be chipping headaches. I am hopeful though.
Price wise, I have no clue. I am thinking that will be set by the manufacturer.

Damn, I'm in the process of scratch building something similar. Its based on the "Big Dog" by Boston Dynamics.
Looks good though.

The belt tracks are actually 130 xl-20 synchronous rubber belt... Think machine cog wheel transmission belt.
So interesting the stuff that gets used in sixthscale.
