The wartime version of the pickelhaube would not have had the bronze eagle or trimmings. They would have been a steel color.

Could they be making an "imperial" German instead of a war-time one?

Well they would have marched in the fall of 1914 wearing this type, and the non bronze version , i believe, is the m 1915. The stahlhelm would not appear until 1916. In battle they would have used a cover, so maybe it doesnt matter, lol. Another early war german! Excellent!

Who knew I just had to wait until 2012 to get some mass market WW1 figures made, after Sideshow cut and ran?

I don't believe we can instantly assume the helmet will be sculpted onto the head.

ha...wasn't long until DiD went back to their staple...germany once again..DiD loves the krauts. a french soldier would have been nice as a 2nd release BUT i guess those 'dragons in dream' folks love their deuschlanders.

Re: DID: 1/6 WW1 Germany Coming Soon~
To be fair, this WWI German would look almost nothing like a WWII German, so he'll not be too generic, regardless of the fact that DiD make a lot of WWII Germans. This DiD figure will look something like this:
If they did not make an early war German, their range would be a tad disappointed due to the fact that they are very iconic, especially due to 'All Quiet on The Western Front'. However, I do hope that they make Turkish, Austrian and Italian soldiers as they had not been made before (well, Twisting Toys made two WWI Italians but they were a military police cavalryman and a ''trench raider'').

Siquisiri,
You are correct about the order of the brass fittings versus steel fittings on the spiked helmet, but not about the dates of use. The Model 1895 Pickelhaube with brass fittings was used on the front lines from the outbreak of war through Mid 1916 when the vast majority of troops in the field finally received the M1916 Stahlhelm (steel helmet). The steel helmet was introduced early in 1916, but it took several months to supply all combat troops with the new helmet (for first hand documentary evidence, see Ernest Junger's excellent account in "Storm of Steel" [page 91-92, Penguin Classics] in August of 1916 who said, "A runner from a Wurttemberg regiment reported to me to guide my platoon to the famous town of Combles, where we were to be held in reserve for the time being. He was the first German solider I saw in a steel helmet, and he straightaway struck me as the denizen of a new and far harsher world."). Anyway, there were a few transitional spiked helmets between the M1895 Pickelhaube and the M1916 Stahlhelm, including the M1915 Pickelhaube, which had steel fittings and a removeable spike.
There are at least one or two other minor anachronism in the pairing of DiD's photos, but since we announced our partnership on an Early War Imperial German a month ago, I am not at liberty to point them out. Perhaps you can figure them out.

A World War One German with the Kingdom of Prussia's Hohenzollern Eagle! I hope they provide a number of plates for the helmet. They can do Bavaria and Saxony that would be sweet.

While they're at it, here's hoping for an Austro-Hungarian, Turkish or early "colorful" French figures.

Re: DID: 1/6 WW1 Germany Coming Soon~
Having already bought the WW1 Brit i'll certainly be in for the WW1 German....i'm sure that helmet cover will be a difficult piece to produce in 1/6th...they will probably produce a weathered version as well....looking good so far, hopefully they have double checked their reference material.
