Re: [SOLDIER STORY] SEAL Team VI - Operation NEPTUNE'S SPEAR (Hi-Res Pics Added
Soldier Story has finally given us that background sniper I believe. And in direct competition with the new TC Op Geronimo figure, with the dog.
Really digging the head sculpt, if not the goatee..... another goatee Soldier Story? Really? I am so in for this figure too, as well as the TC version. Mk12mod1, and H&K 416...... cha ching. AOR1 fest. A UNS!!!!!!!!! Oh good lord..... gonna be so broke.

Whoa, just whoa. Some of the most detailed gear I've ever seen and the tailoring is top notch. Short of PERS eyes and cloth boots, this is already DX quality and value to me. Is this gonna cost 150?

I hope there's a special one with the MP7 so it would match the pic in gearsoc.
Check the bipod, it even retracts then the scope cover has the cheat data! Purely awesome!
They are ahead of the game

No, they have smaller ball holes unlike TC and HT.

xray - I'd have been very surprised if Durant said anything. The Army guys tend to not talk very much.

Oh yeah, I wasn't expecting details from him personally. But I was just wondering if he was contemplating a proper book on the aviation aspects at some point... along the lines of what he has already done. He has been quite good at disclosing, yet not disclosing... in his writings of the past.

Re: [SOLDIER STORY] SEAL Team VI - Operation NEPTUNE'S SPEAR (Hi-Res Pics Added
YES So happy to see new Modern Soldier Story. This figure is a true heavy hitter, so much must have parts. The MK12, HK416 with camo magazine, the Fast Ballistic helmet, NVG, the headsculpt, sunglasses and the M3 15-23CM TRIPOD Tons of extras! I love how the HK416 blends into the camo, this guy is totally invisible. the Backpack looks great. So cool how the C4OPS microphone connects to the side of the helmet with the separate ear buds. And I like the way that pack fits on the back of the helmet. The watch that fits over his glove is genius I want to get one of those IRL!
And I don't know what you guys are complaining about but I love the headsculpt, goatee looks great. Don't care if its not regulation. This is a good sculpt. In some angles the expression looks almost docile or sullen, then in other angles he looks pissed off. Always good when a sculpt can show different emotions. Usually SS sculpt is the weakest part of the set, but the past releases Helmand and this guy really improved the quality.
This is a monster set, they knocked it out of the park. Can't wait to add him the shelf

Many thanks Justin
Looking at the details again it doesn't seem like the HK 416 comes with it's own suppressor which is a wee bit of a shame, I'm nitpicking though.

Silent Professionals.
I've noticed through the years as I researched special operations and intelligence units that the Army Special Forces and Special Operations for the most part seem to be very hush-hush about themselves. The Navy SEALs on the other hand seem to be quite the opposite.
I'm amazed at how many fairly recent DEVGRU photos there are out on the net. I don't think that I have seen many recent 1st SFOD-D pictures (most of the ones I have seen are from Iraq in the 2004 time frame). That shows quite a difference between the two top Tier 1 teams and their compartmentalization.
I want to say thanks to both Casual Collector and Rainbow 6 for the pictures. The hi-res are very much appreciated. I know we all like to find out about the latest and greatest figures. Thanks to the both of you for getting the intel out there.
My thoughts on the figure in general are this; the dual weapons are great. I don't see this pushing the price too far if you consider that the CIA SAD2 figure had two weapons (and two pistols) one of which was metal. Hopefully there won't be a huge increase in price.
I like the head sculpt. People bitch about the goatee, but what do you want? SEALs are wearing facial hair in the Afghan/Pakistan region. A full beard would have been nice, but it may have looked a little off on a bald sculpt. Does anyone know who the sculpt is based off of? It reminds me of someone, but I can't put my finger on it.
I'm not a fan of molded boots. Here are my reasons. You put all of the effort into a figure for detail and then you finish it off with a plastic set of boots, boots that can ONLY be used on a Soldier Story nude. Some like the plastic boots. I don't. Oh well. There has to be a way to make a nice set of stitched boots to look like the real thing. The Crazy Dummy Sawtooths were not too bad. Especially after taking the soles out of the boot, they fit much better.
I agree with Will (MajorRod). They should have used a dual tube NVG. The PVS-18 hasn't been done by Soldier Story yet though.
There are a lot of new items in the set. I don't think that too much was duplicated from what I can see.
Overall I am very pleased by the figure. Soldier Story did an outstanding job. I know we would like to see some conventional and foreign troops as well. Hopefully those will be coming soon.

That was probably what the figure was going to be before Operation Neptune's Spear...and this previewed figure is SS's release counter to TC and to cash in on Operation Neptune's Spear. I do like the figure you posted..simple and clean..plus the Daniel Craig-like HS is really cool. I would have liked that much more than this pitbull looking one.

Re: [SOLDIER STORY] SEAL Team VI - Operation NEPTUNE'S SPEAR (Hi-Res Pics Added
An MP7 would have been awesome wouldn't it?? I shouldn't complain though as the two weapons they've given us are pretty damn awesome!
I'm sure an MP7 will come soon enough considering all the recent hype about it and the recent pictures out there.
The more I look at the pics the more excited I get (apart from the sculpt) and while I can understand why people are getting fed up of the constant SF releases at least this one is a bit more special than the usual re-hash offered by many manufacturers.
By the way, I'm loving the detail on the Harris Bipod, it looks almost exactly like the 1/1 version on my rifle, it even comes with a 'pod lock'

I totally agree on this set.
Almost all new. So that will mean a slight increase in price because of all the new stuff. The more stuff that gets re-used, the cheaper it is, usually. I'd be suprised if it's more than the SOAR figure though.
I think it would be good to try and make the boots like the Jungle boots on the HT Platoon figures. Half molded Beets, and half fabric. Gets the best of both worlds. And they don't look all puffy and out of scale. I'm wondering how long it will take SS to grab on to this idea? Although fancy shoes like this guy have are better done molded. Those would be a pain to make in fabric. Still love my fabric boots though.
And the dual NVG is a much better idea. I haven't seen ref pics of single NVG use in a long time.
And considering how long it has taken for stuff to get made by SS recently, I expect this will show around summer time. The Ranger and SOAR figure took pretty long to get pushed out so I'm betting this will be later too.

Whatever the estimated ETA is, it will take them at least two more months after that until we see it. I wish they would be a little more accurate on their release dates. That way I can plan my funding accordingly.
Because there is so much on this figure that I want, I suspect I will be buying a few of these figures and selling the unwanted off.

THAT'S why I wanted this headsculpt! I was thinking, "I want that head but I don't know why" until you mentioned it. The head looks a little bigger than the norm, too, so hopefully he won't look foolish if I mount it on an ACI Andrew or Kaustic Plastik KP02 muscle body.
As for the rest, I have to admit I'm probably going to try for loose parts but that's it. The Mk12 is amazing looking and I'm sure it'll beat the TC version to pieces, I totally want those blue-tinted sunglasses (I'm a sucker for unusual tints in those wraparounds), and there's the headsculpt, like I said. I guess my problem with everything else is that I don't care enough to have yet another SEAL on the shelf (not that I have many to begin with), but all the AOR stuff is so SEAL specific that you can't use it on anything but another SEAL bash. I'm going to pass on that HK416 entirely because of the camo pattern on it. Not quite sure about the Ops Core helmet.
Stuff like the 10th SFG and the SEAL SDV1 were generic enough that you could throw them on anything and say, "Yeah, this dude's HIGH-SPEED LOW DRAG Operator Team 7 Delta, goodtago for Slaying. Bodies." You use any of this stuff and it's a SEAL.
I guess I'm the odd man out, here. Maybe I'll mix and match a bit, but if I'm getting a box of the recent SEAL operators, it's going to be the TC one.

Re: [SOLDIER STORY] SEAL Team VI - Operation NEPTUNE'S SPEAR (Hi-Res Pics Added
Jeff - Don't know if you knew but some trivia that may interest you. After Iraq kicked off CAG focused there while DEVGRU stayed in Afghanistan. There was some cross pollination but they specialized to a degree and from my sources was a reason why DEVGRU got the Bin Laden mission though there is some speculation some CAG may have been present. Most forget that Saddam was taken by CAG (and predictably, no photos).
I also have been told by guys in CAG and Tier 1 SF companies that some pictures out there are actually of them but are captioned as SEALs and they don't contest/correct the captions. Its not so much a credit thing for them and among themselves they rib the SEALs for being everywhere.
Oh and on better timeliness, I feel your pain but it goes with the territory. There's a myriad of issues that impact the release of these things and all of them can delay delivery.
