Re: WW2/U.S.M.C. Ioujima・2

Fantastic figure-- it's always such an inspiration to view your work! The wounds on the knees and the ripped clothing really tell the story. And the headsculpt shows a lot of character. Tip of the helmet to ya, Matsu@be!

One question: Is the setting Iwo Jima? I've been planning an Iwo diorama also: Are there palm or coconut trees on Iwo Jima as there were on other islands like Guadalcanal or Tarawa or Peleliu? I thought it was just grass and brush and small stuff. Here's a link to discussion I found about Iwo's vegitation:

Re: WW2/U.S.M.C. Ioujima・2

Oorah! Great dio!

...as far as the setting goes, you have done a good representation of one of the battles in the Gilberts, the Marshalls, or the Marians, such as Tarawa, Eniwetok, or Saipan.

Iwo was black volcanic rock, brown dirt, scrub, and grass.

Great work. Please sure some of the weathering and how you came up with the palm tree trunks. I plan on working on something similar.

Ah! I've read that they filmed that movie at Camp Pendleton and along the nearby California coast for the landing scenes, but that they also incorporated real color combat footage in the movie.

Anyhow, nice work!
