Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
Not really jazzed about this announcement. (Although in talking with a friend about HT stuff this evening, I wondered why they chose to skip this Marvel movie. Guess they didn't after all!)
I think the movie will be fun and exciting on its own merits, but it's sort of an "alternate universe", whereas the rest of the Marvel movies have been so fantastic because they actually DO stick closely to the traditional origins and characters.
This movie deviates pretty far from traditional cannon and is a bit of a hodgepodge of characters and story elements from the last 50 years. Origins are wrong, characters are on the wrong side and in the wrong timeline. As far as a Marvel license, this thing is a mess.
A Beast and Emma Frost might be close enough to traditional cannon to get me to buy them, but I have no interest in a young Prof. X or Magneto-- or Banshee or Havok for that matter. 180+ bucks for a fringe X-character that doesn't even look like that character? Easy pass.
But, when the heck would they even be released?? With all the stuff already being released this year-- and the licensees already announced with nothing shown yet (not to mention that most recent announcements have been for as late as 4th Q of this year-- i.e. 1st Q of 2012) where does HT expect to fit these in? And how many characters are they making?
Answers, damnit! I need answers!

If this movie bombs, are they going to pretend like they never made any announcement like they did with Sucker Punch?

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
I'm sure Sucker Punch will do well enough on DVD. As for First Class ...meh. I'm sure if Hot Toys don't do an Emma Frost, soemone else like ZC or Girls Mission will bring out a fairly close White Queen-alike - costume anyway, just lacking an actress-likeness headsculpt. But then, X-Men (Marvel, DC etc) characters are much more about the comics than the films for me.

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
They had other xmen movies and characters. Why start here? Id love a cyclops or a storm or juggernaut from the last movies. these new guys don't seem to have any jazz. They just look dull.

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
for me, i should have the previous movie versions than this upcoming one. Well they started with Logan (wolverine) and they did a nice figure so go continue it for prof x ( P. Stewart) and the whole members and villians- i want to see H. Berry, J. Fawkes, A. Paquinn, and the shapeshifter lady???.

Because if they get the figures out fast enough (ie, Thor) they can ride on the (free) marketing push the film is getting from everywhere else.
They can always go back to the older films if they feel that one of the characters will sell well. Though they've done Wolverine. (from his own spinoff film). Would any other X-Man actually sell well to a wide audience without a film focused entirely on them?

I am still hoping for a Baby Doll release...This is a welcome announcement of sort, other than mild interest in Emma Frost, it's a complete pass. Wallet needs a breather.

Now it makes me wonder, whatever happened to The Matrix license? The movie was a hit and has a huge following.

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
I'll have to watch the movie first, and it doesn't seem like a good movie judging by the trailers., but I would buy a beast any day!, it's the more visually appealing from all the rest, of course there is mistique, but bleh, never liked the design.

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
None of the above designs really do much for me at all. Frost and Hank look alright, but not outstanding. Anyway, just as a movie can be bad but with good designs which I'd buy a figure of (AVP:R), a movie can be good, but with nothing I'd buy a figure of.. (Shawshank Redemption). This film might just be one of the latter?

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
I would have done a Stewart Xavier with a Cerebro helment and wheelchair. Then a Halle Berry with switch out head (one calm head , then one with white eyes and blowing hair). Then (for the icing on the cake) Juggernaut.

Re: Hot Toys - X-Men: First Class license announcement
Other than a January Jones figure, I doubt if I'll be getting any of these. I get the free advertisement that comes with the movie but i don't think anyone needs it. 1:6th toy companies does not need to ride on with the advertisement and marketing of a movie. The 1:6th industry has its own followers, heck, I'm writing a post here, which only means that 1:6th fans will try to look for 1:6th products.
Going back, I'm still curious as to why HT skip the original X-Me trilogy. i would have gotten a Stewart Professor X, Cyclops, and a Storm. As for the movie, i have to agree with a lot of guys here that the trailer kinda looks boring.
