Private,11TH Indiana Regiment Infantry (Zouaves)
(Col George F. McGinnis)
1ST Brigade(COL. M. L. SMITH)
3D Division (Major General Lewis Wallace)
Army of the Tennessee
Shiloh, April 6-7, 1862
Found some reference to the early uniforms of this regiment and they wore an unusual zouave style uniform in gray!
Used the SS zouave uniform, bleached and dyed with RIT dyes. Then rubbed out as best I could the trim on the tunic with GoofOff. I did not want to do this before the dye as it might have marred the jacket. Once I was satisfied that at least the texture of the trim was gone, I painted with some acrylic paint to match the color and then drybrushed to check for the pattern, it was gone.
I then painted the red trim. The shirt is SS from the parts box.
The kepi is from BGT and I painted the lower redband gray and later added the top edge trim, Also dremelled off the CSA from the button on the cap and repainted the plain button with Brass Tamiya acrylic
Equipment is from the sideshow zouave figure.Gaiter/boots repainted for variety.
HS s from Dragon and it is a clean shaven young private on the regiment.
Removed the ramrod from the musket and added one into the muzzle from thin florist wire.
Everything lightly dry-brushed.
