Hmm, it's well done and everything, but just kind of boring. Not feeling it or the character design at all.

Guess you have to take the whips as accessories and expect nothing more? It looks pretty cool but I'll probably be skipping this one. Theres too many good hot toys on the horizon and this one just comes up short of the list.
Plus I have fears for all those little nuts and bolts holding the whole rig together, it looks snap happy.

I also think it's really nice BUT there is something slightly off with it. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that is not to my liking.
Also I would have loved for HTs to have found a way to light up the whips instead of adding those terrible translucent lightning effect things.

Yea this figure is so boring and especially when you're expecting 4-5 new IM armors from the movie.

ya not a fan. I think there is something off about it. maybe the sculpt idk.
But I would love the body loose. Maybe try my hand at an Estern Promises viggo Mortensen
easies to get this then try to draw up all those tattoos !
Wonder how much this body is going to go for loose hmmmm
If anyone wants to part with it haha lemme know!

With the distinctive tattoos, the nude can be used to replace HT's old Devgru muscled body. I wonder if the mechanics can be detached or are glued permanently.
And now, the biggest question, how much is HT going to charge for this figure? He's pretty basic with minimal extra parts/accessories. USD 100-110 should be the ideal price.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS121 - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Whiplash Limited Collectible (update
That harness will be perfect for my next WH 40'000 Inquisitor bash! I envision an older more battle hardened member of the Inquisition who now has to wear an exo skeleton to help him overcome his physical limitations and injuries gained over a lifetime of fighting the forces of Chaos.
The head and body will be great for another East coast hardcore member of my Monsterhunter team, while the boots and uniform will go well with a homeless guy bash.
Now you may be asking why I mention any of this, and what does it have to do with the announcement? My answer is this: I'm trying really hard to find the silver lining here in the figure, and as is, that's not easy. Good thing I have an overactive imagination that allows me to see the brilliance in the dog Poo.
My first thoughts upon seeing these pics was:
When did Mickey Rourke become a heavily tattooed Asian man having a bad hair day?
Why do his power whips look more like a homeless mans crutches after being hit by a car.... repeatedly.
When did yak tongue become fashionable footwear?
As you can see I wasn't overwhelmed at first by this figure, but after awhile I started to see it's true potential. That may be due to the above mentioned reason or the large quantity of alcohol I've ingested this evening, not sure which.
Ok, that's it from me. You ladies have a good night.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS121 - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Whiplash Limited Collectible (update
Personally I think the figure looks awesome, but it's sort of a lackluster character design to begin with. They did an awesome job with him, he just wasn't that nifty in the first place.
Like others have said, I think the movie will make or break whether I buy this. If he's awesome then sure, but if not whatev. I am looking forward to seeing Red Dynamo and a corresponding figure. (We were promised Red Dynamo right?)

I think the answer to the looking Asian bit is when he started getting carried away with the plastic surgery.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS121 - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Whiplash Limited Collectible (update
I agree that some of the criticism about the look of the figure or the fact that it is too simple/not enough accessories is a reflection of the character's design. I also think it is somewhat deceptive as it seems to me that quite an amount of time and effort was necessary to not only sculpt/tool all the new parts but to also deal with the complexities of the exo-suit. I personally think this figure looks pretty elaborate, especially that exo-suit, though I am wary of its fragility. Hope this movie lives up to the hype!

The exo armor looks great, truly. So does the HS and the Tattooed body, but taken together? they fail. I canna explain it, but this fig aint working. Somethings off.

@Hardcase - killin me - too funny.
I agree with SavageLucy - the character (from the comic), if I recall was not very interesting. I think what they (HT/Hollywood) did with him is pretty good considering.
I will probably buy it, but to Doly's point - money will be best saved for the new armor's coming out.

I don't know what it is, but for some strange reason the sculpt reminds of of USMCChet if you remove the long hair. LOL

I don't know why but the whole Iron Man line has been an easy pass for me. This figure is no different.

From what I've seen in the trailers I'd say HT did a good job on this figure. A weak spot may be those kneejoints exposed, perhaps they should have found a way to make them look better.
In appearance it's not a very interesting character, but you can hardly blame HT for that. I'm getting the HS for sure, and the tattood body is a work of art, but can't really see a use for it... yet

Re: Hot Toys – MMS121 - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Whiplash Limited Collectible (update
Personally I think he's the most interesting character so far and I'm a huge Iron Man fan, I already have seven IM 1/6 figs and I don't know how many 6inch versions but I'm definitely getting this as well! The only major disappointments I have about this figure are that he should have a slightly grimacing/grinning HS to show off his silver teeth that are so cool in the trailer! It's also a shame about the orange suit being brown what about the Hannibal Lecter figures by MacFarlane and Neca? They had prison orange jumpsuits, I'm sure they're others too. Otherwise fantastic work.

Wow. Just... Wow.
I still think they should do an exclusive repaint, and call him Omega Red...
