Judge Dredd motorcycle
Hello All, long time collector, new to OSW.
I am looking to make a custom Judge Dredd motorcycle.
Does anyone know of a good base out there to start with?
I know I can use the Halycon kit for the details, but I need a good base bike to start with.
I have already done a 1/6th Dredd and Anderson (photos to post soon.)
I am also willing to make this custom in 1/24th/6 inch scale as well if there is no good 1/6th alternative-anyone know of a good 6 inch out there?
Thanks!

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
sounds like an interesting project.
are you looking to make the movie or comic version?
Pics may help for those of use not familiar with the bike.
On that note, there are a few 1/6 moto makers I can think of:
- New Ray - they are "diecast" but the ones I have are about 90% plastic.
- Franklin Mint - nice bikes
- Testors - make 1/6 model kits
among these are models from the original Indian, some Harley Davidson's and up to present day sport bikes.
Good luck!

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
You can buy a 1/6th scale RC harley davidson, should be perfect. I think they made the ones in the Sly film using harley-esc bikes

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
Depending on your budget how about a Hot Toys Bat Pod those tyres on that thing would be perfect although it would be a BRAVE project.
Kindest regards

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
This is a project I have wanted to tackle for years!
The best bike I have seen in 1/6 scale that comes close to this type of superbike was released in the UK as Action Man Dr. X Chooper. They appear on ebay and ebay.co.uk from time to time! Here is a link to a pic of it...

Let me know what ya think!

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
Get a cheap 1/6 motorcycle. Preferably an Arlen Ness chopper with the fat tires. The one I have was about $10 on Amazon. Buy two cause you will need the fat tires. Using some styrene, leather, glue, paint and a but of skill I bet you can pull something nice off.
Good luck!

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
Ross, I think I showed this to you, didn't I? Yes, since I made my Judge Hershey figure I have been wanting to do a Judge bike. This is just some conceptual images I composed using photoshop. The bike base is a Honda Goldwing. It has been completely decomposed. I tried to add different loose parts on it to see if I can create something giving a similar look as the Lawmaster. But very soon I realize it was too much customization work to do. Now the WIP is covered with dust.
I hope someone be able to make a Judge bike, whatever version.

mgbb, that is one fine concept you did there. I hope you had done that, its close enough to the movie.

That's it Ray! I still think you should take this on!

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
A few years back there was one of those oversized FisherPrice type toy cycles that immediately made me think: DREDD.
Unfortunately I didn't pick it up ($12) because i wasn't into Dredd at the time. I have never seen it again and could never recall its proper name. It was similar to the resue Heroes Jake Justice cycle but was bigger, definitely 1:6 worthy.
Damn my shortsidedness.

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
Thanks for all of the reaponses-looks like I have my work cut out for me!
I have an extra G.I.Joe Harley.
I bought 2-the 1st I customized into and NYPD mtotorcycle(pics to follow soon)
But the 2nd is just sitting-should be perfect for a base but will need to find the fat tires and the guns.
I think I'm going to go for the comic book version.

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
How about using the Action Man Dr.X Chopper - you can pick them up on Ebay dirt cheap, and the big back wheel may be just what you need.

Re: Judge Dredd motorcycle
I have been looking at images from the comic book version-particularly the Carlos Ezquirra version-I think A Harley Fatboy would be the best base-the bike seems very wide, short, and low to the ground.
So I'm going to start with these parts:
Harley Fat boy
model kit bashed guns
Wide Tires from R.C. store
Front eagle-think I can get this from craft place-i will bash the tip of an American flag-most stores carry them and the eagle should be perfect or this (might even find one in metal)
2nd cheap 1/6th bike-any make for extra headlights.
The biggest challenge will be replacing the wheels.
The paint job appears easy as it is mainly solid blue with red stripes. The biggest challenge will also be the side exhaust pipes but I think I can also bash these from a truck model kit.

Given the constant diameter of the exhaust, a simple tube bender and brass tube should do the trick, you can find this in any plumbing section of any mall
If you do choose to do so, just think of taking the double amount of required tubing, coz there's a big chance you won't get it right at first try, but with a little practice.. you should be able to pull it off
I think the hard part will be milliput modeling the eagle for the front mudguard
For the wheels I'd suggest you take a look at 1/8th or larger RC buggies on-road tires & wheels, there's no way you'll find any 1/6 bikes with wheels that large
Best wishes for your Lawmaster
