Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
Wow a semi-original idea from VHT. Now if they could only improve their quality, especially for the price they charge.

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
I'm digging this set! I like all the Adidas gear, two pairs of pants, two hats, five maps and 10 wanted posters/ID sheets. Check out the VH site for more pics:

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
It's very hot, so it's only a uniform set, right, i.e., headsculpt is only for display purposes.
This looks like a cross between the cicra 2003 Toy Soldier CIA-SOG figure and the recent Dr. Figures CIA dude (made with unloaded Toy Soldier parts).
Also reminds me of the Eastern European dude from the first Behind Enemy Lines movie...
I'll take a cheap black uniform. But is that a copy of the ugly SS PMC jeans? And don't let that cheap plastic (gun) touch any other plastic (molded hands, body, or headsculpt) or it will stain...

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
This is a pretty good looking set. I hope they could switch over to a cloth holster at some point, maybe start using a SIG. Maybe start using cloth boots, and kneepads with the cloth backing instead of the molded pads. Upgrade the webbing material. VH could make some good stuff when they really want to.

I doubt that Crowe fig is included. They haven't released a full figure yet.
If it does, I am way more interested. Not a bad set, but not great.

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
Got some very nice gear in there.Although the backpack is a takeoff on a Camelbak HAWG(I think it's a HAWG,could be MULE),without the PALS webbing.
And it does look very reminiscent of the TS CIA operator. But I like the swing here.Could be a step in the right direction for VH.

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
So on their first "own" Release they have to steal the Adidas Logo...jeez wth is wrong with VH?
I like it, but seriously were they all sitting in a conference room
"Hm ok so we through together our own figure...not bad"
"But we didnt copy any designs??"
"It wont sell this way, ideas people?"
"How about we steal from Nike?"
"Adidas maybe?"
"Yes, lets steal their logo"
*everyone sighs reliefed*

As opposed to the dozens of unlicenced actor and actress likenesses, direct movie ripoffs like "Tumulous" Raider or "Alice" figures, or anything put out by Loading Toys, the DiD (and Cyberhobby) "Von Stauffenberg" figures or Eagle, Blackhawk, Osprey, Camelbak, Oakley, Mechanix, OR, TAD, HK, Colt, etc etc weapons and gear? (many of which feature the actual logos, or if not, slightly doctored ones)
As for the HS - they're just using the Hot Toys figure (or a recast) as their model. That's par for the course, not only with VH but most companies' gear-only sets..

Am I the only one that thinks being in all black to silhouette your outline while wearing bright white on your back in head, is a really BAD not to mention DUMB idea?

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
I like what im seeing here, but being VH, I'm expecting 40%-50% of the parts to be unusable and need to be replaced..

Wrong. All their SDU figures came complete with body - at least for the first couple of runs - rubber muscle body just like HT's ver2 SDU

To each their own but so far I have found that at least 90% of the parts are usable. Some parts may need secondary work on it but that just add a little bit of personality to the figure if you know what I meant.
I find this set useful since some of the gear can be used for civi kitbashing. However it'll be much better if VH can use tracksuit instead of sweater and cargo pants.
And I also totally agree its about time they use some more imagination in the revolver / pistol area.

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
Quick question, I am not really familiar with Very Hot's prices, so how much do you guys anticipate this set going for??

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
Nice set. I'm assuming this is not an officially licensed Adidas product. I wonder if I post it on my site and Adidas' people come across it will they send me a C&D like Blackwater did awhile back with the Hot Toys PMC. Hmm.

Re: New from VERYHOT - CIA Operator
Hmmmm, I was initially on the fence about this release, but in fact I really dig it. I always hoped Very Hot would get it together and start making their own unique stuff, at a higher quality. Judging from what I have seen from their last like 4 or 5 releases, they have def. upped their game a little bit. The one thing I really hate about this set is the dang denim cargo pants, I mean, Jeez, what a fuax pas. In this really hilarious way, this set kind of reminds me of Mark Wahlberg at the end of the Departed, when he kills Matt Damon. Sweet.

I'm slightly surprised; this is actually pretty good, too bad though, Playhouse's USMC has got my purchase instead of this one.
