Review: Soldier Story US ARMY FCS (added pics)
Ok here is is..another scintillating review by Aaron.
For years alot of 1/6er's have been raving over Multicam. From Merit's failed MC figures..to knockoff MC sets..to Barrack Sgt's MC sets..VHT Tyncorp..and now this..the first fully licensed MC full figure set.And it has the HK416 that everyone has been wet over for a few months as well. But now to my thoughts on the figure itself
Sculpt/Body-Kinda Josh Duhamelish. And small too.Well at least for the oversized baggy MC uniform. And it looks enough like JD to pass..but not enough to really be JD,HT did a better job..if it wasn't so happy. The paint app is good, except for the rosy red lips. The body is the SS standard S2 body.Good body, but I am kinda getting tired of the no lower neck articulation.
Uniform-Cyre Precision Multicam.Pretty much 100 percent accurate. From the pockets on the shirt..to the dump zipper.I did some research on CP uniforms last year when the other sets were coming out to see if they were accurate.Well they were..but none of the sets had this particular style of trouser. The only knock is the material used is just standard cloth. From what I have seen at the Merit boots at WOH..it had more of a nylonish/Cordura feel to it.But maybe SS had trouble getting that kind of material. Most 1/6ers probably won't know or care. The trousers have the integrated kneepads as well. The shirt even has the side entry pocket and pen loop on the left.
Boots-Oakley assualt boots.Nothing new just a bit of different coloring.Remember when these were 20 a pop form Very Hot!HAHAHA
Vest-Crye Chassis armor-GEN 1.Kinda not that thrlled with this piece. While it is accurate in design(same flaw in material used as well)It doesn't sit right. All the shots I have seen have this sitting very close to the body, not really sticking far out in the upper portions where the ceramic plates would fit.I am going to have to work this to get it fitting how I want it.It has some neat bits, such as the paracord tighteners and the real nuts and bolst that hold the shoulder pieces to the front and back.
Pouches-A bunch of pouches here
Ammo pouches X4 pistol mag X2
NVG/Canteen X1 General purpose X1
Radio X1 Hydration X2
All decent pouches,but..I already said it about the material used. The only real beef is that I am going to have to make Camelbak tube holes in the carriers.
Belts- belts included.A tan trouser belt and a "Crye Armored Blast Belt"This belt has the same kinda padding set up as the Chassis Armor.I have nothing really to say about it,other than it's accurate.
Headgear-A boonie.That's it..no MICH,not even just a tan one.
Sidearm-A M9.With a tan Lanyard.Nothing new.And I think the holster is an paraclete model. It's a reversible holster,Toy Soldier did it on OD for the Okinawa set years ago.It also has 4 mags..1 in the pistol and 3 loose.
other bits-Nomex gloves.Great nomex gloves, second to Toy Soldiers(that is my opinion, most of you will say..TS are too small)
Grenades-Flashbangs and teargas grenades
Radio-MBITR with a handset with a really long coiled cord.
patches-2 skuls,Capt America's shield in tan,a happy face and a
unit designation.
That's pretty much it..Oh wait that's right the 416.
Main weapon-HK416.Very nicely detailed rifle. You've all see the pics so I have nothing to add here.
Overall.I think this figure should have been called "Capt Lennox,US ARMY RANGER",not FCS.A great FCS would have been based on the training pics of the second ID training pics. This is just a Transformers tie-in to me.It's a good figure..don't get me wrong.But....well just but.
Hope this helps..oh yeah..it's SOLD OUT..so get it before it's gone.

Some of ths pics with note of where I have issues with it.

Re: Soldier Story US ARMY FCS review
Thanks. Can't wait for pics. Does the HK416 have any H&K markings? seems a little plain especially compared to Hot Toys offering.

I think it looks really good, IMO. With the combat chassis not being flush, how hard is it to adjust that as far as tightness and fit is concerned? In the pics of just the plate carrier from the teasers, it looks very adjustable.

Not without a bunch of work. It's the way it was made and the plates included witht he vest that do it.

Bet the chassis will fit better on an ACE nude. If not wire or a paper clip will work.

Re: Soldier Story US ARMY FCS review(added pics)
Do the metal sling points really add value to the sling? They've done 'em in plastics before, don't really see the need to do them in metal.

Re: Soldier Story US ARMY FCS review(added pics)
Why not? They might as well I guess. It cant cost that much more, and probably would be less likely to break. I wouldn't care either way I guess.

They can be made thinner in metal so they are easier to fit into the rifle sling loops and less likely to break the sling loops as well. If they can do them in metal(SS is probably the only company that can), why not?

Can you do a comparison of the multicam against CC, BS, DID, VHT and whatever other make? I haven't even seen this in the streets of HK at all!

@ Kittyhawk
Everyone has that problem. Tweezers and patience is the only answer, aside from cutting the sides open and glueing them on.

From what I have read, wetting the gloves also helps.

Yes, SS doesn't have the rights to use HK's trademark Just the same as how HT names their EOTech as POTech and naming the ACOG as Aimpoint.
Also, getting the license for the multicam doesn't mean automatic license from HK. If they run around acquiring licenses, that'll mean additional cost passed on to us just to have the proper label. I'd rather have the items at a lower price with edited labels. What's important is that the gun's form and hardware details are there. Labels used to matter to me, but no longer.
