1:6 buildings and trees are something you will likely have to fabricate yourself, as this scale is larger than any standard dollhouse scale I'm aware of. I've seen some people here fabricate building facades using styrofoam as the base and then covering it with something like plaster or celluclay for texture. Trees can be made using a wire armature, then built up with celluclay and modellers putty.

Bullet casings...might try Monkey Depot

1:6 vehicles and large equipment have been made by 21st Century, Dragon, and I believe DiD. If you are wanting to get a tank in true !:6 scale, they're out there but be prepared to spend BIG $$$$

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

For 1/6th fall-weather trees I just go outside and clip a branch off a tree. If you haunt a nursery you may be able to find young plants with tiny leaves. I suspect you could probably use hairspray to seal the tiny leaves and keep them on the "tree".

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

There are a couple 1/6 structures that come to mind, but both are long gone. Lanard released a 2-story Power Team Command Post building that consisted of a a plastic frame with printed, cardboard walls. Another company, Field of Armor, once showed a 2-story ruined building facade on their website, but I don't know if they ever actually offered it for sale.

The closest thing I can find to 1/6 are a series of dollhouses that are carried by a hobby shop called ValueCraft. They are large, and made from wood about 1/4 inch thick, IIRC. The same store also carries pre-built wooden window frames, doors, banisters in various Victorian/European designs that are close to 1/6.

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

I custom build 1/6 scale structures from one to two story. Some have a war torn look and others are fully complete. They are not highly detailed like in the movies or in true form. The buildings service it's use for diorama presentations or for sale. I find the building materials at junk yards (or alley trash bins, it's free!), yard sales, and thrift stores. I get the building ideas from military history books or magazines. My background is Architecture and Construction, so I design and build the structures to exact 1/6 scale. I find using presentation board and balsa-wood easy materials to cut and glue. The trees, I use real tree branches and glue store bought moss (available at crafts stores) and spray paint the moss with various green paints. However, anyone can build structures or set up dioramas to their comfort. My suggestion is be creative and have fun with your imagination.

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

several folks make their own building pieces, walls, up to complete buildings. Once again, be prepared for price, as it's expensive to create a good, solid sixth scale house, and ship it.

trees are best done by yourself. get your own branches, and trim them up like a tree. A great small leafed tree is a scrub oak.. tiny little oak leaves, and they tend to stay on well. you must preserve the leaves, however, or they will fall off.

there are doll house parts in nearly sixth scale, but you have to shop around for them.

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

I usally build all my own sets. i.e. exterior buildings. I get a lot of my materials from Home Depot or Lowe's. Here are some pictures of my work. I also work very hard to keep my cost down.

Please enjoy.

If you are handy with wood you can always build you own. This is a house I built a number of years ago now, with just simple wood. It is in two separate pieces, the top floor and the bottom so that i can move it around if i have to.

Do a search on here for 'bricks' - you should get some good leads from that.

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

I have done some diorama work, but not in 1:6 scale yet.

Some of my stuff:

I use a ton of styrofoam sheets and textured spray paint. I have also discovered "snow" which I used in the first dio picture to resemble stucco. You can find that in the seasonal section of any craft store, or year round in the paint section. I also use dollhouse brick sheets which I weather.

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

Cardboard with packing foam for support on a wooden base makes for pretty good building material. That's what I used on my MG bunker dio.

The bricks are wooden blocks.

Re: where can i find 1/6 buildings and diorama supplies

Few samples of my works.

Few details of groundworks.

For buildings and walls, I used foam, and various of materials depending on what type of buildings.

In desert dioramas, I usually made damaged building out of foam, then coat it over with plaster, then spray texture over it, then paint it.

For bricks (Like you seen on my MOUT training diorama), I used dremel to carve bricks on foam, then coat it with Elmers glue or even mod podge before spray texture paint on it (spray paint chews through foam due to chemical reaction so I coated foam for its protection).

Your question about trees, you could use ones for xmas decoration. For any kind of foliages, you could use anything such as fake plants from Michaels or even pet store (recommended, more options, might could be found in reptiles section), and modeling train's woodland scenics. Just be creative.

For groundworks, I stacks up foams to create ground levels, then carve to shape. Then I mixed celluclay with elmers glue and dish washing soap then apply them on ground, spread fine rocks from woodland scenics on wet celluclay. When it dried, I paint groundwork to color I want before add foliages.
