There's one by a different name in the adult section. He's started 2 threads and just recently necroposted on another.

'S OK, the spamboys decided it was a good time to add to the current atmosphere. They were just unlucky to show up when all of staff's reasonableness has been expended.

I like that term "necroposted." It's neat. The act itself isn't, but the word is.

Hahaha, I liked it too. Clever term. What do people gain with these bots?

Yeah same question: What's the point/goal of the spam bot?

Good question, maybe they get paid to post!? Can't think of another logical reason.

They get clicks on the links they post, links that may get increased advert revenue due to all the page views, or worse, pages that install malware on computers or pages that imitate other pages in order to get people to enter passwords or other sensitive info. Whatever they get out of it, it ain't beneficial for us

That was what I thought. It's the same with phonecalls, you get these automated ones with recorded messages, I think answering it is logged as a call. My dad didn't hang one up yesterday, he put the phone down without pressing the button to end the call. It had been going for nearly 5 hours when I saw it and hung up. Thank god he wasn't making the call!

Ok, before I start:I LOVE OSW. It's my favorite online forum (the people, thier work, thier attitudes et). But if bots like these exist and they generate revenue for something crappy when you click a link in their post - SHAME ON OSW for making it so hard to post pictures in a thread/post. I have to use the thumbnail photo option (which is just ok) or share a link to myalbum.com which doesn't let you share one image but shares an entire photo album. If placing a pic in the OSW post was more user friendly, maybe we would see less of this crap.

The link clicking dangers apply only to those links pasted by spam bots....

It's not a negative for OSW, there are ways around it which SEVERAL members have proven. But when I follow the instructions from those folks as how to post pics directly to my post it never works.

It was only Photobucket that really upset the applecart so far as posting images was concerned, there are other hosts like Imgur and Flickr that are straightforward to use and I'm sure there is on site help available should you come unstuck. Just because you can't, it doesn't mean everyone can't. Never be afraid to ask if something happens. OSW is a helpful place.

I guess the linking to albums Community> Albums must be a problem. It work for me, but who know why...In the main, try sending your complaints upstream to Jim Dolan jd@figures.com. If the issues here piss off members, that can hit home with advertisers. On thing: While whining and blustering are the course in much of today's social interaction, a more civil approach means your complaint launches from the moral high ground, and leaves less room for the other party to dismiss the issue outright.

    Except, I guess, Photo bucket.

    Imgur makes this quite easy:

    1) Sign up for a free account

    2) Click new post then drag and drop your images to the cloud box that pops up, browse to the file on your computer with the browse button or input a website address directly in the bar below.

    3) Click on your user name in the top right of the home page, then select images in the drop down. Click on the image you want to post.

    4) To post a picture directly in your post, you want to use the copy button on the "BBCode" section found on the right side of the page. This includes the formatting for posting to a forum.

    5) Once you have your BBCode click on the globe icon (to the left of the camera) in the forum posting toolbar here then paste the BBCode. Repeat as needed for multiple images.

Thank you. And I agree. You guys have been more helpful regarding my collection and choices made, than anyone/online source has ever been.

AdamC, I've tried that several times and when I preview post the pics aren't there. The only things that have worked so far are 1) links to another site (for me:myalbum.com) or 2)the thumbnail pics. I don't hate the thumbnails but they don't stand out as much as an inserted pictures.

You can also try copy and pasting the BBCode directly into your post message area. The important bit is to have the [img] and [/img] tags encapsulating the url as that tells the forum software to display the link between them as an image.
