As I said on FB, excellent addition to a wicked figure. What we need now, is a sheet that replicates tire pattern rubber. [edit] - Hmmmm...maybe instead, some R/C tires (regular street type)?

Vweery nicely done! I've been thinking of trying something similar using an old bicycle tyre.

That's some particularly noteworthy praise from Rainbow Avenue, a master of scale tailoring and scratch building.

Re: SCRAP BUILDING/ DIY Viet Cong/ North Vietnamese Army Sandals

Fantastic work and excellent step-by-step tutorial, thanks!

I tried this a few years ago using craft foam for the soles (those 8 1/2" by 11" sheets at the craft store) and embroidery thread for the straps to make samurai style flip-flops. It did not come out very well (not to mention being pretty inaccurate, haha). The use of a diary cover (or similar type material) is genius. Maybe I will try it again using your method.

It's as big as a house on walking legs,
And whatever it steps on it crushes like eggs.

I used old diary covers it's because they're harder & easier to work with. Besides, they hold better when glued. Anyway thanks for looking guys!
