Sorry to hear that Roger, I hope it's not serious and you get it sorted; will you still be visiting the forum?

No, I wouldn't say serious, just a case of prioritising finances. It's not going to affect things here that much, I'll certainly be swinging by.

    .
Yeah that review makes them look great -- definitely a notch above the Halo / Batman Spru-kits, which is more what I expected. Unfortunately the same concept won't work as well beyond stormtroopers. For Iron Man they'd have to make them more metallic, and it probably wouldn't work at all for anything with fabric, and a face.

Just watched a you tube video as well (I prefer video reviews as written ones are pretty dated media and limited in their showcasing, good pictures can over glorify a figure while bad ones can ruin a great figure and then the written content is all you have to go by and can be inadvertently biased). This shows a figure literally in hand and being posed in front of you, warts and all:

And here's a 1/12 Bandai Death Trooper that we may or may not see in 1/6, they do a 1/12 K2SO as well etc.. that would also be great in 1/6!

Doesn't need to work for much else, there are plenty of armoured characters to choose from: star wars troopers, halo spartans, iron man armours, robocop suits and robots etc etc etc.

If they keep making great kits of cool characters and troop builders they will do well. Even if you have to paint some (like Iron Man) at least they are already dismantled ready!

One thing I have noticed is that none of the above reviews ever got round to putting all the decals on, so I've no idea what they're like.

Cheers Roger but what the hell happened to my video You Tube links on the same figure? This site has been playing up way too much recently, part of the reason I'm building a big ZOID instead for now! Funnily enough he's a 1/6 scale MECH gorilla, well technically 1/72 but if you ignore the cocpit feature he would fit in well with a 1/6 build! So don't really need to watch a model build as I'm in the middle of a very complicated one right now! Customising it too.

KHALIMAAA!!! (a TTOD reference for you Roger! ):

Looks like a peed off member of the Banana Splits shagged a Transformer! The spider was the only one of them I really liked. I can't really get any more figures or models until I know I'm going to have somewhere to put them. So, I'm guessing you're going to wait and see what Bandai come out with in relation to this build, and I wouldn't blame you.

No idea who the Banana Splits are but I get the idea . I hope you'll know where you're at physically and figuratively (could that cover figures too?) soon and that any red tape goes smoothly for you too. The Bandai is a very different type of kit as it's trying to be as minimal parts wise as possible which is good for the Storm Trooper, I still think he'll need a material bodysuit/undersuit to pull off the look completely though. Funnily enough my next item on my want list is a Bandai 1/60 Robotech/Macross Valkyrie, now that's a collecting pit to fall into but they're so well designed and made!

I've seen the sprues, those parts aren't minimal, LOL! The box is well over a foot tall, and, unlike Airfix, that box is full! Space will again be a concern for me, so I'll need to see what I've got to work with before making any decisions.

And this is going to be a future build, their most complex model so far, over 4000 parts!!

Re: Disney Death Trooper Upscale WIP 1/15/17 Silicone Mould Dilema..

Right, back on topic at last.... done some more work on the Death Troopers. I resculpted most of the missing helmet bits from the casts using black Miliput (nice stuff that so far) but need to sand everything down as I was filling in micro holes too. Started the chest armour using one of my magic stealth shower gel bottles which was enough for both sets, it'll be cut shorter as I modify it to look more like the actual armour. I need to Dremell the helmets and make gap fillers for the thigh armour possibly using that now grey rubbery lined material if it will accept black some how (Sharpies and ink perhaps?) or the black material shown next to it and also use it for the abdomen side panels too. I cut down the mag pouches completely and will swap out the plastic grenade pouch for the material one on the BP vests as well as adding the silver fasteners to the plate armour with black fabric webbing straps. Then hand, neck and feet to work on, oh those toy truck tires will make the missing front ports on the helmets.

Coming along, the feet do look massive though.

I had another look at an HT Rogue One Stormie yesterday and I'm sure the front of the helmet is a little too flat. Something not apparent on the SHF ones I've seen.

Boy am I glad I put together that Dremell booth! I'd never Dremelled black resin before and it was interesting to say the least, Couldn't see a bloody thing until I got the Dremell speed just right and then it was perfect (set at 17 if that helps anyone with a 400), plenty of cutting speed and visibility. Got rid of all the excess resin and cut out neck post holes, I'll need to miliput the odd snafu due to early visibility probs but no big deal, I'm surprised it wasn't worse!

Re: Disney Death Trooper Upscale WIP 2/3/17 Back On It!

Got much better reference pics of the actual armour to work from now so I'm contorting my shower gel bottle pieces accordingly and may forego the under vest completely and replace it with more movie accurate ribbed material while sill keeping the odd part of the original armour for detail like the backpack and chest centre piece.

Those are some great pics. That was the main reason I bought the Star Wars Chronicles as there were loads of great reference pics of the OT stuff. I remember being sent a load of Cantina creatures to paint once, there's no way I would have attempted them without that book. I even got it signed by Jeremy Bulloch!

    looking awesome so far!

Off topic but kinda related: yesterday I revived my skulltrooper project and today I made the first casting of the basic helmet. that will be refined then re-moulded for the final castings.

PS (Star Wars Chronicles is probably long out of print, it cost me £100 and it could be more now, it was printed in English and Japanese.)
