    Black Ops Assault Leader

My second 1/6 kitbash for this year. Been more than 3 months since my last kitbash.

I’ve always wanted to make a psychologically awe-inspiring figure. Black assault suits, gas mask, robotic sounds of radio chatter. Got a lot of ideas after reading through Steve Crawford’s The SAS Encyclopedia (ISBN 0-9666771-0-2), as well as other sci-fi inspirations from movies and videogames. No backstories on the nature and purpose of “Black Ops” yet. Workin’ on it.

This figure marks the start of one of my first ambitious 1/6 project: teambash. Planning to bash at least another four figures, creating a complete assault team.

Difficult to pose this guy without the Y-stand. Even the stiff bootfeet won’t help. He’s quite top-heavy with the vest, nade’ launcher and rifle. The addition of the helmet and gas mask may also contribute to the upper weight slightly.

Currently working on his second squadmate: Assaulter. Any help on identifying the unknown strapless helmet (bought it from an action figure store in Kuala Lumpur 5 years ago) is much appreciated.

Damn--that's one of the coolest figures I've seen here in awhile. Kinda scary looking. I don't think I'd want him coming after me. Great job!

This dude looks ready to mess s#!+ up. Cool bash.

That helmet almost looks like an HT CVC helmet, or an aircraft carrier deck crew helmet from the VBSS SEALs. On second look, maybe not the VBSS one.

Hmm, not too sure, but I'll try to check it. Bought that helmet in Kuala Lumpur back in 2003. Nothing on the brand. The description above the pricetag for this helmet simply says "HELMET BLK". Could be somekinda pirate brand, but from where?

The helmet sorta looks like one from the old Medicom figures, like the SAS, COBRA, GSG9, etc.

Everyone: Thanks for your kind comments!

rapier: BBI Richard Marcinko. Bought mine loose.

cannednerves: Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already chose to go with an all-black color scheme. More menacing that way IMO.

DunkleGelb: I hear gloves from Dr Figure (IINM) are compatible with HT ball sockets. Saw some good ones on sale. Thanks for the touch-up you did on my figure's photos. I should learn photo editing better.

Pacoman: Yeah, I know. I wanted to pose him without the action figure stand, but it's difficult to do so because the figure's top heavy.

he looks utterly menacing - if that's the image your are going for, you certainly succeeded! Fantastic!
