I can almost hear him now:

"I have a (Dragon In) Dream......."

Seriously though, a very nice figure and tribute!

Finally a shorter figure and a AA sculpt to use for some of the Nam guys. I am not into political stuff but this is interesting to me for the parts and uses. Nice job DID.

Seems a little on the heavy side and the likeness could use some refining.

    Totally unexpected and surprising.

I concur the likeness is a bit off and hopefully will be further refined.

I wonder if it's an officially approved/endorsed/licensed figure by the King family? Very likely, I'll buy one.

With that said, I wonder if DID may possibly consider a 1:6 Malcolm X figure? A 1:6 MLK and Malcolm X figure would make an interesting contrast and compliment one another from a historical perspective.

    Looks brilliant to me,

I like the shorter body too, I wonder if it's all AA and not just the head and hands.

I agree this is a great figure. Like Churchill this likeness achieves a strong emotional resonance that is probably more important than just getting 100% photorealistic accuracy. Kudos for the short body, and I hope it's naturally proportioned rather than just lopping off 3/4" at the shins. Love that 7-mike podium, but I hope it doesn't result in a humongous box and increased shipping.

I think there is probably about 0% chance of this being licensed. DiD chose to run real legal risks with "MI6 Agent" and "Chicago Gangster," while with this one and Churchill, there is probably no significant risk involved in making a likeness of an historical public figure and with no use of copyrighted logos etc. If this was licensed of course it would have a chance of getting sold through museums and educational institutions, but I don't think they contemplate that market. Taking Licensing out of the equation must be part of the formula for DiD's amazing run of Churchill, Chicago Gangster, MI6 Agent and now this one, all at about half of comparable Hot Toys list prices.

Ok then, how about this; here is a nice figure release, a great tribute to a great man, and folks can't wait to turn it into something else.....

Seems we are never content to just comment on the figure as it stands.....everytime a figure is released, we get the "I wish they'd do a.......(something else)"......

Kudos to DiD for doing a very different figure - I know he's iconic to many Americans.

A plus point is that he may introduce 1/6th to people who wouldn't normally know about it.

Likeness is only right in a few angles. Kinda weird, since there isn't a short supply of ref material for it.

I shudder to think of some of the little plays people will be performing with this figure when they get it. Still, pretty cool, and a bit of a change of pace from DID's other usual historical choices. Do a Malcolm and I'd probably grab that.

EDIT - really excited about a different sized body too, would like to grab a few of those loose, assuming they aren't $50 a pop on the secondary market (they will be, but I can dream right? DREAM, topical!).
