    Weird! Red Chinese Close Protection

Chinese close protection guys in Iraq. Have you seen pics like this before? I'm not used to seeing pics of Mainland Chinese soldiers in anything but parade dress or perhaps some new recruits marching in camo. So it's pretty cool to see them dressed like this.

I wonder if operators in other countries watched the way the American SOF dressed in Afghanistan & Iraq and then simulated that style? I remember the photos taken of Canadian and French operators in Haiti recently, and they had a similar load out going.

(oops, they may be Chinese Armed Police rather than soldiers, but they're definitely in Iraq.)

Probably. These guys actually look cool in plainclothes--of course, I just want an excuse for DML or BBI to make that bullpup rifle.

Not a lot of gear on them, though. They might just be bodyguards. I've nto heard anythign about China's SpecOps community, this may be something new.

From what I've read, China didn't have dedicated SpecOps forces until the mid-90s. That might explain why you rarely read let alone see anything about them.

The mainland Chinese and NKs have had SF-type troops for a long time. In the case of the Chinese, authorities say that only in the 90s did they develop large dedicated SOF groups. Their societies and security apparatuses are not conducive to open dissemination of material about those forces.

the rifle is a Qing Buqiang Zu(QBZ)-95 rifle, chambered for the new Chinese 5.8x42mm cartridge. This is made by NORINCO of China. There is an export version called the QBZ-97 avaliable for export, and that one is chambered for 5.56mm NATO. It started appearing in 1997 when China took back Hong Kong.

Supposedly, it can mount a M203, or a chinese copied M203. Also, I saw a pic of it once with a longer barrel, bipod, and some sort of Chinese copied Beta-C mag.

"Qing Buqiang Zu" = Gun, Small Arms Type, if I rememeber right. this is the exact same kind of gun that kept giving me problems in Splinter Cell (the first one), since the damn thing could take off your entire health bar in ONE 3-shot burst.

I've been wanting a 1/6 version of that as far back as the first time I saw it (in splinter Cel)

"Qing Buqiang Zu" = light rifle family, I don't think it's an official name of the weapon.
And these guys are from armed police.
Also, a company from china released some 1/6 chinese soldiers with that weapon.

I recall a Chinese company making 1:6 modern Chinese soldiers/armed peoples police. I even think it was a thread here.

Yeah, the "Chinese Rambo" (as ArtofToy calls them) line had QBZ rifles.

    http://www.artoftoy.com/chrana.html

They also have a weapons pack out there, but AoT doesn't carry it. The detail is like Hasbro quality, though the QBZ is nice if you drill out the barrel.

If I remember right, the QBZ's mechanism is similar to the AK series of rifles, only built bullpup. and they at least picked one of the better bullpup rifles to model the QBZ from. Could you imagine if they tried to make it like the SA80?

Is the type 86 just obsolete now or what? I've never seen it used much except in some older HK movies.
    Here's a pic:

And a certain massively cool guy sent me this pic of the QBZ and the other weapons that came with the "Chinese Rambo" figure series. They also made a RPG but it was pretty horrible, sub-Power Team stuff.
