SDCC 6" - 8" Starcraft Marine Unveiled
Hi Guys;
I've attached a picture of DC Direct's version displayed at the recent SDCC. Anyone that was there is welcome to discuss what they saw or a timeline on this figure.
I know its not 1:6 but niether was HALO before McFarlane did a 12" version (I know its not EXACTLY 1:6 either). I'm hoping.
I'm not a Starcraft fan but have always had a fascination with powered suits. That's why I had such an interest in HALO though not really a powered suit.
I found this thread that has a SPECTACULAR video of a Starcraft Marine.

I have seen Favela's spectacular 1:6 work on OSW but that's limited to only him (SAD face).

I don't know what the deal is. DCD does a much much better job on their video game figures than their own comic figures. It's like part of their deal with Mattel is that they always make a worse product.

I prefer them on this scale. Couldn't imagine the pricetag if it was 1/6 scale, and done by Hot Toys. My budget is already burdened with loose 1/6 items, 1/144 Gundams, and non-scale Figma/Revoltech figures.

Understand but It would look spectacular next to my ED 209. 1:6 would be off the chain

Looks awesome, If it's 8" I think you could take pieces from it for a bash, it would look a little bit small/slim, but perfect imo. But then again, starcraft marines are awesome.

Re: SDCC 6" - 8" Starcraft Marine Unveiled
I took that photo and posted that thread with the video.
the figure is slated for Q1 2011...which is about on par for DC Unlimited's release schedule, putting out video game products about 6 months behind the game's release date - that's not inflammatory, simply fact - look at the God of War 3 figures being released this fall.
The figure looks great - it was a painted prototype and Eddie Wires, a friend of mine, is the painter. I'm not sure who sculpted it, but it's a pretty accurate portrayal of Tychus Findlay (for those unfamiliar with the StarCraft mythos, click HERE).
Articulation will include shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist (I think?), hips, knees, and ankles (I think?) - no word on price yet (The spokeswoman said "DC Unlimited doesn't set SRPs, we allow retailers to set their own price" - which means we'll see it for anywhere from $25-40 is my guess...hopefully more like $25 as I plan to buy at least 2 or 3 of them to repaint...

FLANELA, how do you know I was talking about your work? There might be some customizer that picked the name of the city in Venezuela and Modern Warfare II for their nickname?
Hmmmmmmmm, makes you think huh?
OK, its you. Sorry about the error. Good I didn't call you FLAN or FLANNEL or FAHGETTABOUDIT (its a Brooklyn thing)?

Crowinghorse - THANKS for taking the time to respond and appreciate your efforts to keep us informed.
Did you even ask about a 1:6 product? Again, I'm not a StarCraft follower but it does have a HUGE following. I am a fan of Powersuits though and woul seriously consider it. There has to be room between $40 (your high end) and Sideshows $1000+ for the Avatar's AMP suit.

Re: SDCC 6" - 8" Starcraft Marine Unveiled
I asked and - sadly - they have no plans now...nor do I see them making any anytime in the future...
It's not feesible according to the rep I spoke with, which is probably true. In fact, in all honesty, I'm guessing the closest most of us will ever see to a 1/6th Terran Space Marine is the custom being documented here on OSW.
It'd be amazing if kits were made for those of us with no talent for what flanela is doing...
Flanela - you ever consider making casts of the parts and pieces of your Space Marine once you're finished? I'd for sure get one...
