Thanks for your input on the subject.Through the years I was able to interview quite a few of the pilots who flew with these guys many of them Aces themselves. One of the best was Col.Neel Kearby CO of the 348th FG flying P-47's the first in the Fifth Air Force. One of the first things he checked on was who was the Leading Ace in the Fifth at that time.Once he found out that Maj.Bong and Lt.Col.Lynch were matching each other in victories he made the comment "It won't take long to catch up"He was at 22 victories when he was shot down over Wewak New Guinea.

Don't forget about Maj. 'Tommy' McGuire. He's right up there with the elite
    echelon of PTO Aces, IMHO.

Excited to hear about this! While by no means even close to approaching the impressive amount of knowledge that you chaps have, I have always had soft spot for WWII aviation - both the planes and the stories of the brave pilots. I have found memories of my grandfather building my first model plane for me when I was about 3 or 4 - a Stuka of all things! Didn't know what those weird "cross" shapes were, but thought it looked great!

It would be indeed great if they could some obtain the use of any airworthy planes and not unnecessarily rely on CGI.

Curious, was the Stuka model decorated with a 'snake motif' running alongside the fuselage body from nose to tail?

Though no release date yet, I'm so looking forward to this mini-series.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Can´t wait to see this one.
And then I have this little dream in my heads, when I think about what Hanks and Speilberg has done together in the past - how great it would be, if they made Band of Brothers like series that took place in the Korean war, or in Vietnam.
