Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
I'm relieved, I thought perhaps it was just ME, or maybe having seen the EVEN more dismal MEDICOM version was the reason I was put off by this completely. I think a different body type would have served to compliment Spiderman's frame more accurately, plus the new costume design sucks (which Hot Toys Can't be blamed for)... I still preordered it though, I'm a Hugh Spidey fan.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
It's not just you, and I am a huge Spidey fan as well. I have all of the Medicom RAH Spiderman comic character versions, plus both of the classic and black HT releases. Still, this was an easy pass for me. I hate the suit, reminds me of what Ben Riley would have been wearing rather than Peter Parker (for the true comic nerds out there). I considered getting one just to call it Spider Clone, but then it just looks so lousy in the pictures I couldn't justify even that for the price.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
As much as I want the Spiderman 3 version because the costume is more iconic, I passed on it because I was afraid the glued webbing would peel off someday. I need atleast 1 Spidey in my collection so I'll PO this, anyway I'm not really bothered by the new costume and it has a Parker head...

Totally agree! Hot Toys has been hit or miss lately, in my opinion. They've become so big that they are starting to slip a little. And don't get me started on the prices!!! They are way out of control!

Well, I haven't seen the final release, so this may be unfair, but if I had to pick the single most disappointing Hot Toys creation, at least of the newer items, I would choose the new Wolverine. $225 for a nice outfit, 2 pairs of non-clawed (so basically useless) extra hands, a fairly generic base, and a headsculpt that IMHO looks more like he is portraying "painful constipation" rather than "berserker rage." Maybe the final will be excellent though, I can believe that, just not seeing it with the prototype pics.

Yeah, too many figures in development that sculptors are probably forced to work harder and faster and they need to hire new ones. For me, one of the worst is their Avengers Thor, TDKR 1/4 Batman, Indiana Jones and TDK Joker version 1.

That Avengers Thor looks pretty bad.

Yeah, version 1 Joker was pretty $hitty, when it dropped I'm sure we all thought it was ok, because we didn't know any better. Thor is EXTREMELY disappointing too, which is a bummer cause all the other Avenger sculpt are exceptional. The Last Stand Wolverine isn't too bad, but could be better? We'll just wait and see... I've pretty much given up on Sideshow's G.I. Joe line so Hot Toys has my full attention. Oh!!.... final release photos of HT's Iron Monger looks like a disappointment as well, too small in scale.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
I'm new to the 1/6 Scale lines. I'm very impressed for the most part, but that Amazing Spiderman is pretty damn bad, which is ok because my wallet can use a break for the next quarter or so.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
Yeah, another victim, uh I mean customer!.... Like seeing your buddy getting married... You're happy for them but you know it's the start of something long, painful and will eventually leave him almost broke. No, but seriously I LOVE this hobby, and probably will for life. I have easily have over 700-750 figures (I'm scared to count) alone including several custom and one of a kind custom pieces that I gawk over everyday. I have no desire to stop, only question is where I'll find the room. The only advice I'd give to someone starting off is do it out of joy and artistry and you feel the same. Unfortunately, during this "golden age" of 1/6th the technology, variety and craftsmanship are being overshadowed by ever growing prices which alienate current hobbyists and deters new ones. Your ahead of the game for finding this site so early in your career, you'll find it quite informative. Enjoy. Welcome...

I pass on this one unless they hit the clearance for less than $100.

Lol, I hear ya. Movie wasn't good enough to warrant a $180 figure IMO.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
I'd reckon the action figure could be more muscular and the outfit material used shouldnt be in plastic form because in the long run, will tear up by the joints. as far as pricing goes, it is alittle bit much for such simple action figure.

As much as I love the webhead, I can't justify 200$ for something that ugly.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS179 - The Amazing Spider-Man
Blade is one Hot Toy I WISH I could find at a decent price! So far I'm a new Hot Toy collector and have STARS Wesker, Post Trans Krauser, Classic Predator, and Boromir Sideshow. Haven't got into super heroes because I'm not crazy about movie licensed looks, but pre-ordered Iron Patriot because it looked to damn sweet. But yeah, Blade is one I wish I had!
